agree..i think LX5 will built in EVF or OVF and free angle LCD..but the fact
not worthed to upgrade [at least for me ;) ]

but FZ100 look like more steep than FZ38..fz100 now have "hotshoe and LCD free angle" [dont know what it mean].. but add 2mpx from 12mp in fz38 to 14mp in FZ100 dissapointment me..i hope that not destroy IQ ;)

Wow, so its out?? Doesn't look like there's any difference between the LX3 though.

Same sensor size as the LX3 @ 1/1.63.

Same lens.

Same mega pixel.

But added stuffs like Power O.I.S and AVCHD recording.

And i tot they would have a 12MP, better zoom range LX5, at least diff from current LX3.

Current LX3 user can just hold on to their LX3.

Just a bit more zoom, larger grip, redesigned hotshoe mount and higher ISO are the main improvements. To me, not so worth an upgrade from LX3 unless u're a new buyer.

Wonder when will this thing reach Singapore.

Main differences between the LX5 and the older LX3:
- The LX5 has 3.8x zoom 24-90mm (the LX3 has 2.5x and ends with 60mm)
- LX5 wit 80 to 12800 ISO (the LX3 80 to 3200)
- It records in HD 60p (sensor output is 30p) AVCHDlite
- LX5 There will be also optional electronic and optical viewfinder

not same lens..
LX3=Leica sumicron 24-60 with F2.0-2.4 [2.5x zoom] with 8 element in 6 groups
LX5=Leica sumicron 24-90 wit F2.0-2.4 [3.8x zoom] with 10 element in 9 groups..LX5 more complex and maybe more dsitortion too..just maybe of course :D

panasonic said: as soon as possible :)..but yes to me[for LX3 owner] no so worth upgrade too...i hope LX5 will built in at least OVF..dont like idea with optional EVF/OVF in LX5

I'd rater keep my LX3 and wait for LX7

well looks like it’s unlikely I’ll be selling my Samsung EX1 then, despite the fact White looks pretttyyy..

They mentioned evolved sensor technology. Probably better high iso performance.

Rumored initially with big m4/3 sensor, kinda disappointed also.

But if they hv improved the high iso, longer zoom, faster af (like gf1), improved jpeg engine with nicer colours and reasonably priced, they will hv a winner.

bredpit, LX3 is f/2.0 - f/2.8 and LX5 is f/2.0 - f/3.3.

With the LX5, I'd still keep and use my LX3, at least gd for another 2 years or so.

LX5 looks nice. Not a revolutionary improvement over LX3, but it manages improve on some of the criticisms of LX3 (mainly the focal range). I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Yes, will the LX5 give better noise control and JPEG output?

Though a ground breaking product when it was launched, JPEG output and noise (ISO400 and above) on the LX3 needed improvement (as to be expected from small-sensor cameras). So if Panasonic can push the envelope with the LX5, they'll sell these by the truck-load.

And when will they release a compact bounce flash? The Nissin Di466 can't be the only option out there.

Cheers!

Ex1 does not really seem impressive for me to throw LX3 neither LX5 is enough for an upgrade. Seem like Pana have lots to think about. Maybe next samsung EX2 will be better or pana LX7 will be better ...

yes, agreed ... Lx3 still can run for 2 more years at seem ... unless Pana do something better.

If LX5 can have good ISO at 800, that will be something to  about, if not nothing to surprise lor ...

Not holding my breath on the 12800 ISO. I don't even find 800 acceptable on the LX3, using basically the same sensor.
