Hi all,

The same topic comes again but this time with more requirements.

Holds:
1 x body (if can 2)
3 x lens (take it as average size of a 85mm 1.8 and bigger)
1 x 13" notebook
1 x flashgun
other accessories ie notebook charger etc.
**the more important criteria is that it must have quick access to individual lens compartment!

have seen bags such as
Lowepro Fastpack 250 and 350,
Vanguard Uprise 46,
but don't give me quick access to the lens when i need it on-the-go.

anyone with experience of this?

If you wan quick access to everything .. shoulder sling will b ur best solution ... but the load will b all on your shoulder ...

i suggest that you should go online or down to the shop to test it all out .. what suit me might no suit u ...

ThinkTank bags come to my mind..

Sounds like you will like Vangaurd Uprise 46 .....

Didn't you read the above?

have read through the previous post, will be good to hear from someone who had this prob and found the best solution to it.

So far the bags I use I find think tank belt bag is the best.. Can be use as shoulder sling bag n use as belt pack to distribute the weight evenly.. Very easy to access lenses n flash except no laptop.

thanks mod101 for the links. was considering this however it looks kinda alien but how's the comfort that kata bags provide? trying it for a good 1 min in the shop wouldn't give me as much insights as someone who has been using it.

omega23, I've thought of it but don't wanna look like i'm going for range while doing a shoot. hahaa..

I've been using Kata 3N1-22 for quite sometime now and I find that practically, all the equipments are accessible even while you're carrying the bag. Comfort wise, since you'll be carrying all those stuffs, no matter what ull feel the strain on ur shoulders. The straps are thick though. And the best part is, you can re-adjust the strap however u want it. X strap, normal carrying haversack and one shoulder sling.

Since the straps can be taken on and off, I find it easy while in the mrt or bus whereby, i just release one strap and bring the bag to my front. Its easy if you get a seat on the bus or mrt without the hassle of taking the bag off.

My accessories include;
1) 550D w/ BG
2) Sigma 70-200
3) Sigma 17-70
4) 2 X flashguns
5) 10" notebook with power chords
6) Other small stuffs including my extra BG batt compartment and PT-04s

I don't really like the look of the Kata bag (Kinda 'Beng-ish' look). I prefer Tamrac or Crumpler. But hey, the Kata works for me. :)

Shahrie, you got it all of what I need to say :) and yes - it does the job and "comfortable" enough for me. I only use the Kata 3n1-30 when I am travelling. The occasional shoots in SG will be with Crumpler 7 million. If I can't be bothered with taking a bag then it will be Blackrapid R-Strap for walk abouts.

Shahrie, your answers are exactly the kind of solutions i'm looking for, user with experience to share! thank you!

Indeed Kata bags doesn't look as pleasant as we hope but judging from what you've mentioned, it will serve my purpose well.

guess i'll wait for a few more good reviews and then make my decision!

Have you tried the Domke F4? I think it'll fit all your equipment other than yr laptop and in my personal opinion, it looks good too! :)

@ rEv09 - Hey. Glad to be of help! ;) Don't need to rush. Once u get the right one(bag), u will stick to it. Coz ... photography is like marriage. I think. ;p

@ mod101 - Bro you know what, I'm also using Crumpler. 5 Million DH to be exact as my walkabout bag. I just stuff my 550D w/bg + 17-70 + 70-200 (seriously!!) + a set of PT-04. And Ill carry a smal pouch around my waist for my Di866. Just in case I need a flash. And thts how I usually leave my home. Even to work.

@shweed - Tht's definitely a nice bag to have! But then again, it'll burn my pockets and pants. Sigh ..

Don't you feel naked walking around with just ur cam around your neck with no bag? How abt dust and all? Ohh .. forgot. Yours are FF. Weatherproof. Lol. :D

With a laptop in the equation changes a lot of things. Number 1, it's gonna be murder on your shoulders if you are gonna get a LARGE shoulder bag to accomodate the laptop.

Most laptop/camera bags are backpacks for a reason.

If you wanna remove the laptop from the equation, you'd have a lot more choices. Alternatively, get 2 bags, one backpack for the laptop and a shoulder bag for your gear to reach easily.

Drop by CP in Peninsula, TK photo in Funan or OP in slimLim to try. (i am not link to them) They have a bigger range of bags to try.

I am using the Thinktank UD35 and i carry the following configuration for my walkabout / oversea trip.

Config1: flight check in possible
main compartment
13" notebook
D700+grip + 85F1.4 attached
35f2 + 50F1.4
SB900 +spare batt + cable release
cokin filter set + hoya CPL in front pocket

Side pockets
1 water bottle+ CF card

Still got space for accessories+passport +boardpass in frt pocket.

Config 2 (flight check in possible)
main compartment
13 notebook
D700+grip + 70-200F2.8 attached (hood reversed)
24-70f2.8 hood attached
spare batt + cable release
cokin filter set + hoya CPL in front pocket

Side pocket
Sb900
1 water bottle

Config 3 (family man config)
same as config 1 & 2 just the note book space is replace with 4 xl pamper diaper and 1 pack wet baby wipes.
1 spare set of clothing for my baby gal and small towel.
:bsmilie:

I did a bit of trial and fitting to make up my setup and it is my current most functional setiup config.but note config 2 is a back breaker. If i need to walk a distance with this config 2 i will use my backpack flipside400 instead. now i am considering getting a Thinktank streetwalker pro to replace it.
