I know that there is a lot of useful information on buying things, photo shoots:dunno: and other useful stuff, but the whole interface (old forum style) is very awkward and cumbersome;:embrass: Is there some guides on how to use these forums and guides.... the new user oriented social networks like FB are so easy to navigate and post and comment and follow and guide - and I wonder if these forums can be like that...anyone out there who can help?:dunno::thumbsd:

If you use any forum much, you will know this forum is the standard PHP based forum module. And I have to say the PHP forum module is one of the more elegant ones out there. Facebook is a social network, not a forum. You can look at group discussions in Facebook and you will find it is extremely hard to keep track of discussions, hard to search and not as robust as this one.

Most subforums have a "Guideline" sticky. Just take a quick look at them. The Articles found at the top of this Newbies Corner might be a good place to start.

cannot swim, dont blame swimming trunks too big.

this forum layout is clean and easy to use, and as daredevil has mentioned, if you go check around other forums with as much features as this, you will see an uncanny similarity across all of them.

there is always a search function button at the top right. i am sure thats all you need. you might want to consider re-evaluating the keywords that you are using for such searches.

i don't see any difference between FB and this one.

i also can't think of any other way to do this.

CS is pretty organized with proper sections/headings etc...not that user-unfriendly...;p

Some people who grow up on Facebook think it's the "right" way to do it, even if it's not. Wrong application for the wrong purpose - A facebook-style threading will cause chaos when you have a lot of threads and users.

not sure what are you looking for in clubsnap
but if I see people posting photos of laksa, mee siam, chicken rice and also photos taken in toilets, got all the ,,:vhappy: ,like here like there and all the game invitations, coupon etc everyday. I will faint.

I don't think there is a guide to using the forum. The best way is probably to navigate subforum by subforum to see what's the usual topic people discuss inside. You will probably find it easier to navigate once you get the hang of the forum. It's a large forum, so there are many subforums to organise information.

In fact, the CS forum is easier to navigate than many PHP MBs I've come across. I find the FB discussion or news feed very bad for discussion because it's one long continuous thread.

haha, and you can play your mahjong there too :D though last i read from TODAY, MH got risk of DVT

The forum is easily to use. (From the day I started)

Some thing may need a little bit of your time to find out.

User have to 'try it out'.

Be responsible to look up 'how to use' or simply ask (tho some Question may get :flame:)

You want to use something be responsible to find out yourself.

:):):)

many thnx for all the helpful points and many thanks for all the useless:confused: emotional ones as well...I learn a lot all the time!!:)

I'm open to suggestions for improvements and I don't want to be resistant to change.

But so far, I'm comfortable with the style here in CS.

Although FB is very user-friendly, I know for one thing, it doesn't come with a Search function.

FB is user-oriented. Means you find posts/comments by finding the user. Here, we can search by topic and/or user.

Maybe, our forum frontpage which shows the list of Latest Discussions can be something like FB wall? Maybe more lively this way...
