Right behind you. :P
Alright... Recently had a fierce conversation with singnet about the contract i sign during PC show 2010... It will be a god dam nice story... Sit back and relax.

16-June: Went to PC show and saw singtel offer for me. 10Mbps home broadband + a lenovo newest laptop. Monthly subscription is 69.90. Hmm not bad. Went to queue up and finally reach my turn. The salesgirl over the counter ask for my i/c blah blah blah. Before i sign the contract, i asked the salesgirl. When will i receive the premium(Laptop)? She said that i will receive a letter for me to collect my laptop, around 7-14 days.

17-24... waited. Today: Postman knocked. YAY. a letter from singtel. Once i open up, It says that i can only collect my lappy on the 14-JULY. i was like? WTFish? So long. The salesgirl said that 7-14day i can get my lappy. suddenly changed to the 14-JULY. Called singtel and straight away asked for the manager in charge. Because i was totally upset about singtel services, i wanted to cancel on my subscription plan...

The conversation was:

Singtel's stuff: Hi i'm blah blah from singtel may i help you.

Me: Can i talk to your manager in-charge?

Singtel's stuff: Wait a moment *Music*

Singtel's stuff: Hi i'm blah blah de manager in-charge

Me: Hi, i'm Mr koh and i would like to cancel my subscription.

Singtel's stuff: Alright, can i have your i/c and phone number. *Music*
-
Singtel's stuff: Hi mr koh, sorry to keep you waiting. But sorry, your plan is a brand new plan which hasn't passed a month. The cancellation fee with be quite heavy.

Me: Its ok, how much wil it be.

Singtel's stuff: Cancellation free will be 171.20 + the premium(Lappy), And that will be around $1300

Me: Erm... I didn't even got my lappy and yet you want me to pay for the lappy? What kind of service is that?

Singtel's stuff: Sorry sir, according to the T/C, when you cancel, you have to pay for the premium(Lappy) too.

Me: You still don't get what i mean? I don't HAVE the lappy with me. Its says my collection date is 14-july while YOUR staff on the PC shows tells me is within 7-14 days.

Singtel's stuff: -Silent- Alright. What we can do know is, i contact lenovo and see whether i can push the lappy for you for early collection ASAP.

Me: Now i don't want the lappy and YOUR services. I want to cancel the subscription.

~~~ Still got more argument... But not related to topic.
The main point is that... Singtel wants me to pay for the lappy when i didn't even have not collected/received it.
What do you think?
Is there logic behind this?
I'm willing to pay the cancellation fee of 171.20. But not the 1300 for the lappy.
Cheers:D asking for your opinion only. ~
you understand what is contract or not
you see your little signature there on the form, it says you agreed that you have to pay, so you have to pay.
suck it, and don't anyhow sign next time if you have no idea what a contract is. it is a binding legal document.
So i just get the lappy and cancel de god dam subscription? lol
if you cancel it, all the loses will yours.. singtel will happy
got black and white stated on your invoice you will receive your laptop between 7-14 days? the invoice got said you can have full refund or cancel the order?
aiya, it is like that one lar, sometime shipment will get delay, i just ordered a $599 carpet and have to wait for 2 months.
Contract is contract. You signed, you're legally bound.
If you want to get out of an internet plan just because a freebie doesn't show up 2 weeks later, but instead a month, then I can say that you are truly seeing it in the wrong way.
P.s. 2 years ago, my HP MiniNote from starhub took 2 weeks longer than expected (3 weeks) to become available for SELF COLLECTION at Funan.
In business world, it is base on black and white.
In the contract, it stated that you had to pay if you terminate early, then just too bad.
In the contract, it didn't stated that you can get you lappy with 7-14days, then just too bad.
If that sale girl just anyhow bah bah blah and you choose to believe her instead of the contract, then just too bad.
If you take the lappy and terminate the subscription immediately, hence paying more, just too bad. Who knows, maybe you might feel more shiok.
If you want to act like a king and go whack singtel in court, please think twice.
The best is "just too bad" in the current situation, wait for the lappy, continue the service until the contract end. Then you can choose to forever boycott Singtel.
So i just get the lappy and cancel de god dam subscription? lol
If you only want to heard positive comments, post up some xmm photo in P&P section instead, tonnes of encouraging comments awaiting you to collect.
i think you are making a mountain out of a molehill, and i'm entitled to my opinion.
sorry if you don't like it, but it still remains my opinion.
you can't just say that you want to commit to 2 year contract and then cancel everything.
you could possibly get a waiver if you push hard enough, but frankly speaking, i'm just saying that if singtel wants to enforce the contract, you cannot do anything. like i said earlier, your signature is there, you PROMISED legally to uphold your end of the bargain, there is nothing on singtel end about delivering laptop in 7-14 days, i bet. if there is, then you have a case.
if they have met every part of their bargain, then you can't do anything.
so my advice is, if you want to get out of this your way, find something that they didn't deliver on in the contract, then demand for a waiver of cancellation fees BECAUSE they didn't uphold their end of the bargain.
Its your fault. When u signed the contract, it means u accept singtel's terms and conditions. Its simple as that. And besides, u said the girl at the show say that u will receive a letter within 7-14 days for the collection of the labtop right? So the letter came 7-14 days later and told u to collect it on 14 July. Nothing wrong. Singtel din't break any promise as they din promise u a labtop within 7-14 days, rather a letter within 7-14 days. And you will still need black and white even if u insist they promise u a labtop within 7-14 days.
So they are 100% entitled to ask for full compensation. You got totally no case. Dun like their service, then suck thumb and pay the penalty + labtop.
Based on what you've written in your 1st post, in my opinion, you misunderstood what the salesgirl told you and you're screwing yourself.
I had a similar situation.. I talked to the manager wrote in and even when down to singtel. then i said i would go to the press - editorial section and they agreed to cancel everything!
I don't understand what the fuss is about? How far is July 14th from now?
Actually, TS is just another one of Singtel's customer. If consumer want to throw a fuss, write to various media just to get his way. Then it is no longer a case of who is right or wrong. I believe in such cases, Singtel gives in out of goodwill and not because they admit their mistakes.
Unless it is explicitly stated in the contract that the premium will be delivered within 14 days. Then Singtel is not in the wrong. And I am sure there is a earlier termination clause in the contract. As to whether or not the notebook is in your hands prior to termination, that is secondary.
Never argue with singtel, the form you sign stated everything.
I've got a feelings that many of us here would comment on something you'd not like to hear... probably because most of us here knows what is contracts...
Take it or leave it, this is how the world works on contracts :)
Er you want the laptop or the broadband? PC shows have a lot of laptops for sales.
At least the manager did a good service to push the laptop delivery as early as possible for you. My understanding when you sign up the singtel service, the free gifts are arranged by the separate vendor for this case Lenovo. Singtel only activate your plans.
I think it's better to consult a lawyer or CASE. There may be a loophole somewhere for you to build your case. :)
you want to bang table with Singtel? Wow!
you are the one who want to breach of contract and expect Singtel let you walk free? Wow!!
just check your profile.......
no wonder lar.
Sad to hear your story TS... that's one of the reasons I don't like to trust the promoters/sales person during those shows/fairs. Many of them might be just taking part time job and they know little about the products that they are selling. So in order to get more sales, many verbal offers might be just expired after you have sealed the deal.
Many had spoken, a contract is a legal document and you have agreed on all the T&C set by Singtel.
Black and white is the king of rules...
WHy suddenly want to cancel??????
