does the shutter count increase when using video or live mode ?

I think is counted as 1 shutter (mirror life up and shutter open once, closed when stop video) each time you activate the video. After shutter open for video it is using the sensor for very frame.

Shutter actuation is purely mechanical triggered by the electronic sensor. It only needs 1 actuation to start taking video or 1 actuation to take a shot during live mode.

so every 1 min how many shutter count has been use?

I think 24 frame per sec refers to the "smoothness" of video flow/scanning, not the shutter actuation.:)

If you have seen Iron man2, recall the scene RDJ played back a film video of his father. The film rotates to give N frames per second to create running sequence of images on screen.

since we are talking about this topic, can i ask why is there a limit in shutter count?

any shutter count limit in pns camera?

Almost all things have a shelf life. Especially those with moving parts. Nothing last forever. Either you pay a million bucks for something that lasts & lasts or the manufacturer will go bust in no time.

This is true and also why diamond is sold so expensive...:bsmilie:

It's not a "limit", it's more of an estimated lifespan. It's not a firm, hard number. And PnS cameras don't have a mechanical shutter that moves a mirror out of the way, etc.

Till now have not reach a 'shutter count' limit yet. It just won't die:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Other parts like sensor, lens zoom need to replace rather than the 'shutter'

pns will have some moving parts, i.e. focus motor, so they can still break down. On 2 pns, i've own, they have both had their focus motor's replaced.

24*60=1440.
Ok, let's stop here before somebody really gets confused. Guess you got the answer from the other responses. Only real film cameras have a shutter system that opens and closes 24 times (or more) per second.

does the shutter count increase when using live mode or video ?

Depends on the camera too. In some Sony DSLRs, the liveview sensor is a separate sensor in the viewfinder. I do not think the shutter will actually open when activating liveview.

Shutter count does increase for Nikon dSLRs. I think only certain Sony dSLRs circumvent the problem by having another sensor, thereby not requiring the shutter to open.

So what is the shutter count limit for a DSLR usually?

Most shutters are tested at 100K actuation.

No one knows when the mechanical part gives way...some dslrs fail at 100K, some at 70K, some 50K. Some batches are super durable, some batches can only take half of the tested actuation. There's no so called sure number for shutter count. Just shoot and don't worry:cool:

Just use...why be so worried about shutter count. When shutter wear out, just replace. It is cheap. I really don't understand why people are so paranoid about having high shutter count? Just like people buying car and then do not want to have high mileage, and choose to take public transport.
