Model: Mika

Photographer: Me

Before i start, i would like to thank Etude house for agreeing to let us use their shop for a mini photoshoot. (@ Plaza Sing)

And thanks to the guy(not sure what is his name, but he don't really understand english) who helped us out during the shoot. (On the lights for us, gave us some accessories to use etc.)
*He looks like the manager*

Please be patient as Mika is currently doing her make up :)

it's a stupid habit of mine, trying to change it. Thanks alot for pointing it out.

i'm too into slanting my photos... Gonna kick the habit.

Thanks alot for your comments :)

IMO slanting is not a crime.
Especially in these types of images with a lot of Jap influence.
A lot of JPop, Manga and Cosplay images I've seen are slanted too.
It's a bit of a Jap thing.

Nice pics and nice model by the way.

IMO the slanting works in some of your pictures, mostly due to the use of mirror reflection.
I have a habit of doing the opposite, mine are too plain and straight! (perfectionist, not an artist) :bsmilie:

are you magnadel from sgcafe or someone from lemon ball production??

Hi there. Thanks for sharing.

Kinda dizzy to see all tilted...imagine looking through a photoalbum with all slanted images. A bit more variety will make your pictures more receptive to all and reach a wider audience...

Cheers.

haha i like how alot of people can take nice photos and it's straight, it gives me a feel that it's very clean and tidy.

But i guess i'm still new D:

haha yeh, guess u saw my work there as well?

Nothing wrong with slanting the pics. Just do what you think is right...

thanks :D But i hope to let everyone enjoy the photos as well :)

oo yeh variety, as in the angle of shooting? or the whole concept? Cause we cannot really take the product from the shop, thats why i'm limited to only using the mirror, till later they manager agree to let us use the whole shop :/

Thanks alot for feedback !

nope.. I am a member of sgcafe too.. -.-

Nice, very J culture. Nah, IMO K and J are totally different. J is more towards the cutesey side whereas K is more towards the sensual sexual side ( correct me if i'm wrong, but there are bound to be exceptions ). Model really pretty :D Hmm, you taking shoots for their store? If not how come can use?

We request permission to take photo in their store at first. (Etude house)
(Although i really hope to be able to do a shoot for their stores)

Was given the ok sign but was told not to take the products.

But after that, the staff so call assisted us, he let us use some of the product there like the basket u see at #6. That's the basket u get when u first enter the store.

Haha yeh i think it's more J, i believe J is more "cute" kind as well :)

Thanks for the comments !

I really like this style of outfit and accessories :), probably because my taste is heavily influenced by Japanese pop culture too haha. I would prefer it without the scarf though, it sort of takes out the playfulness and the cool vibe from the model. Scarves always give me that "old and matured" impression, but that's just me xD. I think slanting your photos is fine, having every photo slanted makes me feel kind of dizzy @.@

Nice job, I think. =) These belong to mood genre. A mood set should have a variety of composition at different spots of a setting, but usually in an organized shoot there is hardly enough time. You need to vary your composition and framing to tell "something". Space determines the kind of mood. Space plus color determines the emotion. How much space you want the surrounding to take up in relation to the subject is your choice; how you want the slant is your decision. Positioning of objects and subjects indicate their significance. When to bokeh and when not to bokeh is determined by objects, structures, their distance behind you. If you take all these into consideration, your pictures will become more meaningful.

For example I like pic 5 because I like the space ratio. The girl is enjoying her own reflection. Proud of her dress-up. The pic shows it clearly. For pic 2 the focus is on the hand, but the objects are tiny. Are you trying to portray her joy for having those accessories? Then something more should be done. :)

haha i always like japanese style >.< i think she wants the scarf to cover her neck or something. Realised that slant photo is ok, but all slant is not, >.<

Thanks alot for the constructive comments !

O space, realise i have not been using space recently, everytime i fix one of my habit, the other returns. :( photography is hard.

I appreciate your detail comments and will take note of it for my future shoots. Thanks alot !

*Cause all my models are FOC, so time is a little short as they have to rush off, or i cannot be too picky about poses*

quick comments:
1. pic is soft
2. color balance is off
3. crop is too tight
4. too messy. don't really know what your focus is on - on the model, on accessories???

slant works great here. but of coz some audience will feel dizzy. just like taking a boat ride. weak ones get seasick. same issue.

Cause i think i'm too used to doing slant photos so i have no idea it will make audience feel dizzy. Will relook into this :)
