I've been looking High and low for discussion on G11 but i couldn't find it..... Maybe I missed it. Currently I own a 40D and my wife is complaining too big for her to carry ard.... So I'm planning to get her G11 or S90. I had read through comment of S90 but don't have a thread on G11. I understand that both having more or less the same spec but I like G11 flip screen and better noise control.

I would love to know more on G11 from brothers here.

Had a try of the G11 at Best Denki the other day. Very impressed with the build and fast access dials and buttons. AF was responsive. No chance to really explore picture quality of course. Like the optical viewfinder a lot since I don't like using live view; though its a bit small. Very good price now at $7xx (might be cheaper elsewhere).

IMHO, certainly an advanced amateur grade compact.

maybe u can ask ur wife about it also. usually females then to favour small cams. so she might like S90 instead. btw there r fantastic reviews of S90 too. i'm also considering to get it for convenience too.

Hi there,

i think most impt thing is you go and try out the camera yourself. Coincidentally, I also own a 40D and looking at G11 or s90 for a compact for my gf and myself. I like the idea of the flip screen also but I find there are some things missing which made me consider s90 instead. I'm not sure but I think if you are on manual mode, there is only one dial to change the shutter speed or aperture (you change between the 2 using another button and it goes through another option which makes adjustment quite incovenient). Maybe its not true as I only get to try a little with it once. The viewfinder I find is very small so I don't think I will even bother to use it. s90 is more compact and could be a better option.

Wahhaaa.... THANX GUY!!!! I bought G11 from MS Color! Awesome Cam! My wife love it! Now still playing with it!

DAMN IT! I just saw a dust in the lens..... Only 2 days old can go MS Color Change?

Your description of the G11's manual mode seems correct. I own one too apart from my 50D and that's how I've had to toggle between adjusting the various settings in Manual mode. The viewfinder is indeed rather small - it doesn't come close to 95% of the field of view that will be captured by the lens as most dSLRs offer, so it's really a last resort option in the case that you're desperately trying to conserve battery by not using Live View to shoot. Other times, just stick with Live View, because you won't be partially blocked by lens barrel at the wide angle too.

hi can you share how much you got your G11 at ms color?
Planning to get my wife 1 too maybe in July for her bd ... now still saving up hehehee

$720 from MS Color:thumbsup: Brother remember to check the whole camera including the Lens for dust....

It is under warranty. Bring it in.

I went to CSC just now.... The CSO told me dust is not cover under warranty... However, mine is a few days old they give exception. The thing I don't understand is, why can't they give me one on one exchange and I got to wait for about a week to collect my G11 back.
