First time posting here :embrass:

long time (at least 5yrs didnt upgrade or purchase new ones):bsmilie:

current one is Olympus 5Mp only so dont know how much the technologies have changed.

currently looking at either Sony or Panasonic ones

need to be easy to use, no need complicated instruction since parents will also be using it so no need to be complicating

and need to be tough since i afraid that it drop by myself or parents drop it then it gone so having tough digital camera will help it survived... hopefully:sweat:

use for overseas tours and need record either 720p or HD video

need storage media like microsd card or SD card or other storage medias...

need a screen protector for the lcd screen too unless the LCD screen is scratch proof...(any brand recommended or those made in japan ones can already) think i leave out the len cover since i dont think have such len cover protector or the image be lesser quality due to the pasting of it on the len

any recommendations?

Will purchasing the digital camera at this week PC show 2010 be cheaper or with more gifts:embrass:

Budget at $500...will top up extra $150 more if fit the usuage :D

Thanks

Just go to any of the reputable shops and try out whatever fits your budget until you find one that you like.
My recommendation is Canon S90 or Ixus 210 IS.

If you're talking about the 210'IS' it's PowerShot although there's an Ixus 210. But compared with the S90 i think you mean Powershot 210IS:)

Hi Greg,

for Sony the H55 is a great cam with 10X zoom, Steady Shot and Sony G lens. The TX5/7 is also another good choice with it's stylish compact design coupled with Steady Shot and Carl Zeiss lens.

Both cameras comes with the great Handheld Twilight and Sweep Panorama features.

For Panasonic, the compact and stylish ZS7 looks to be a good cam too with the 12X zoom on the Leica DC lens.

Canon S90 above budget :( but Ixus 210 IS is possible :)... but then is not tough enough...later i or parent use it and drop it... then it gone already

Panasonic FZ35.

iAuto mode for your parent, just aim and shoot.

Excellent Image Quality, AVCHD video, 18X superzoom, Power OIS Image Stabilization, much less bulky.

Excellent professional review and user review.

$5xx only can get from ebay.sg

The FT2 looks like a great cam too but personally I do not like the buttons and the looks of the cam.

If you are not in a hurry to get, maybe can wait for PC Show and compare the prices and freebies. I remembered during the last PC Show, Sony gave an original extra battery which I find is a good deal.

Sony TX5 is great.Otherwise the HX5V is great too...

When people ask me for recommendation for digital camera, my choices are these... S90($699) & ixus 130($499). price could have changed. funan selling 440 for ixus130. watchout for it in IT SHOW. :)
