Bring back the kids in the playgrounds!

Playground near my house, nobody was there when i went.
4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
This is in B&W to bring out a nostalgic feel(that's what i think). It shows how Singaporean children are getting less and less active outdoors.


I'm quite new in this. Please do guide me along.

Shutter speed is 1/640. ISO 100. f5.6.

may be better if u have a wider view and focus the swing and blur out the whole empty palyground...??

Not sure how the original picture goes but could try monocolour (like sepia, or a colder steely colour depending on what mood you are trying to convey) rather than B&W, or alternatively can try to desaturate and make those nostalgic colours. That is, if you are doing post-processing (which I assume you are unless you shot your pix in B&W).

the composition looks boring, static, too many vertical lines in the frame
plus the form of the floor causing confusion to the viewers.
can't really identify your main subject.

suggestion:
set your camera on tripod, using wide angle to frame the empty playground but place the swing up close, push the empty swing and let it moves, using slow shutter speed to capture it.

A slightly different angle would be great to show the other swings, better if have kids on the others, and this one empty.

The two chains on the foreground is very distracting. It doesnt add anything to the picture.

heyy! i doubt you can bring kids back to the playground just like that... anyway, the swing seat is too centralised for my liking, and i think as a whole, it's hard to make head or tail what's going on in the photo because the shapes and lines are too cluttered. maybe before you go back, since you already know what the place is like, you could think about what you want to shoot and how you can possibly frame it before going down, that might help a little in terms of you thinking of better, more creative compositions
