Hi all, just joined this forum and find it informative.
Hoping to get some help here.
I encounter condensation on my lens when I am taking photo today.
I am in using my gear in the aircon room for around 1hr and when I move out of the aircon room, condensation happen.
Will anti fog work? Pls advise.

If the aircon room is very cold and outside is warm and humid then, yes, condensation will happen. Just leave it and let the temperature equalize and it will be gone. In the future if you would like to prevent it, just seal up your camera in a ziploc bag before moving outside, and once outside let the temperature equalize.

The spray? The foil? Both will affect image quality when you apply it on your lens. Simply wait and let the camera warm up, condensation will go away. You can't beat Physics.

wait for 10-15min, it will go away.

Just take it as coffee break then carry on shooting.

Appreciated all the replies.

It happen that I was taking pictures of my company's event indoor, when the big shots decided to move outdoor for site visit after refreshment. That is when I was caught off guard for the condensation issue.

Good thing I decided to check out the forum first before I apply my colleague's anti fog for glasses.

Thanks again. :)

Waiting is 1 option. If no choice, golden moment in front of you. Quickly wipe, quickly shoot?

Ah that is provided the condensation is on the external of the lens elements. If inside then cannot wipe liao. :)

i usually blow on the lens very lightly and condensation will go away in a while.

Happens to me everytime as the aircon temp in my room is set to 22 deg. If i were to leave my camera on the table and bring it out subsequently. Condensation always occurs.
Nothing to worry about.

Btw, welcome:)

Thanks for the welcome wishes and replies. It is great to have so many warm hearted guys around.

Condensation will happen inside the lens? Is that how it causes fungus?

Don't worry about that. It just takes a short while & it'll disappear when you step outside ;)

But it can also happen inside right ?

and when that happens got higher risk of fungus growing ?

Don't worry too much. The fogging will disappear once the glass temperature equalizes with the surrounding (just like spectacles). Just let the fogging clear up before storing it and it will be fine.
