hai.. im not good in computer thingy.. i did some research on the parts of computers to get the best once.. but still cant understand a single thingy haha.. so it would be nice if you guys could list down the latest specs to create a desktop.

i heard that it is much cheaper to but parts by parts and fix it.. it would be so much cheaper than buying in one bundle in stores..so guys please do help me to list down what should i get.. im more to designing and editing pictures.hope this info could give u guys some idea what i need .

hope to get some good responds ! thanx alot ! :D

Recommend you post here instead, you'll get better responses instead. The people there are more knowledgeable on computers. :)

Err, it is actually cheaper to buy in bundle than piece by piece. And if you don't even know what parts to buy, are you sure you know how to assemble them?

So for your case, it might be better that you list down what you want, go down to SLS, and ask the shop to assemble for you. You'll get a bundle price in this case. You can also refer to the shops' price list to get an idea what you would want to get. Most of them have system bundles.

Btw, what is your budget?

it is very difficult to list down for you coz there are too many options available .

1: cpu, got pentium got amd. pentium itself got i3, i5, i7. AMD i not sure.
2: main board : too many brands to choose...too many options. how many slots you want? how many HDD you gonna install and etc...
3: RAM : few brands to choose. from cheapo to expensive. some comes in bundle/pair.need ECC?the clock speed must match cpu in order to run them in dual channel.
4 graphic card : got nvidia, ATI. expensive one, cheapo one. very HOT one(nvidia), or very power efficient one.
5: casing. same as point 2. if you buy a montherboard which can support 8 HDDs but the casing can support 4 HDDs, it is pointless.
6: sound card? built in? or separate? need 7.1 surround? need EAX?
7: PSU , few brands to choose too. if buy wrong one, you PC will not boot. graphic cards nowadays are power hunger.
8: hard disk drive. How huge you need? need mirror? want fast drive? get solid-state drive, no motor, no platter . can install your OS in less than 10 mins.
9: and other accessories..

we talked about options, now you have a few choices.

1: since you got no experience i suggest you do some reading.
2: or if you are lazy just go sim lim/funan and buy those package one.
3: or if you are rich and want to save your trouble, get Dell, they have alienware series now. sure can use for design and editing pictures, damage is about 3k.

If you really know very little about computer spec and for that matter trouble shooting software and hardware problem, the better choice would be get a branded computer like DELL, Acer, HP or Compaq.

Go do some research at the Hardwarezone forums; they have recommended systems setup for all budgets as well as pricelists for the major SLS shops. http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=1093205

Once you have some idea of the equipment list, can go to a shop in SLS with your wish list and ask them to fix everything up for you (suggest pcthemes in SLS). Alternatively you can browse through the suggested systems the shops have and see which one you want.

This route is cheaper than going the branded route (Dell/Acer) in getting a system with comparable specs; but as the other CSers say, if you want peace of mind and are not technically inclined, get branded with warranty.
