How do you maintain your DSLR after an outing?

Hi guys! Sorry if this question was asked again but i couldnt seem to find the thread using the search button.

I got a question, how do you guys keep and maintain your DSLR after an outing? Whats the recommended way of maintaining it? Do you clean your DSLR with a damp cloth and leave it to air for an hour before putting it back to your dry cab?

What I normally do is roughly clean the outer part of the equipment (body, lens etc...)

Then clean the internal if necessary. Internal means use blower to blow at the sensor of the cam, surface of the filter/lens. Then wet cleaning if necessary.

After that, will thoroughly clean the external of the equipment once more. Now, equipment are totally clean, then put in the dry box.

Cleaning kits including blower, lens tissue, lens cloth, lespen and cleaning solution.
Note: lens tissue can be reuse to clean the body after cleaning the optics.

The question is raised 2x per week at least ..
First of all: there is no need to be 'anal' about cleaning your camera in the same way as your mom cleans the kitchen. Cameras are built to last and any form of usage will surely bring some sweat, dust and maybe stains. Wiping with wet cloth to remove sweat is perfectly enough. Lenses need cleaning once there are finger prints or stains on the glass. Forget the dust, comes back faster than you can put the cam in the dry cabinet. Sensor dust will appear when using small apertures. Just give it a blow together with in-camera tools. If you use the camera next day you might leave it also in the bag. Fungus would need weeks there to develop.

Heck, worry about the pictures you created... not the darned equipment for goodness sake.
I had a camera bag full of snow when I went skiing with my camera last year. Gave it a good shake and chucked the camera into the bag when I returned to the hotel room.

depends on just how much of a cleaning it needs but once a while a thorough cleaning like below is no problem for mine.

Depends how much you worried about it

Think analytically: DLSR - afraid fungus growth, to growth - moisture and dim condition - put into dry cabi - solve.

So if dirty outside (say, dirt??) wipe with a clean cloth. Blow away any dirt on the front of lens.

But yes, no need to be too worried. No need too particular. Unless you have a sweating palm.. where you afraid your sweat (oily) might dirty your camera.

give it a nice bubble bath. strawberry flavor if possible. just kidding.

just do a general cleaning lor. use a cloth to wipe your sweat (if you were taking xmm). let it dry before putting it back in cabinet.

i just clean it once every few weeks, mainly because i can't stand the dust collecting in some nooks and crevices.

sometimes when i'm lazy, i don't do anything.

This is something which most of us don't know about it. I just knew it yesterday anyway, just to share with the rest of the ClubSnappers.

If you plan to keep your camera for a few weeks before you're gonna take them out again, please remember to remove your strap.
It's one of the place that has high amount of Fungus growing. Most of them just keep it wrapped around the camera and dumped into the dry cabinet.
In that way, the fungus can also grow. So by removing the strap from the camera when you're gonna keep it for long will ensure you don't have to do some much servicing for your camera.

Just sharing what i know from a professional photographer for 30years.
Feel free to add on/correct me if i'm wrong.

relative humidity low means fungus can't grow.

so you can wrap 20 mushrooms around the camera, and put it into the dry cabinet, it won't grow.

I would normally clean the UV filter with a lintless paper and use a dry microfibre to wipe the body after a week or so ?

clean it when you think it is dirty or collect dust. Normally a damn cloth to wipe the body after a hot sweaty shoot.

Normally a blower is sufficient and micro fibre cloth to clean the filter.

For a E3 , it's simple just use a dishwasher.

I mainly do simple cleaning after 3 to 4 outings by using a blower to clean any light dust caught on the body/lens, then follow up with a non-fibered cloth to clean them from any stubborn dust/dirt.

Most of the time, I just leave them in the dry cabinet to prevent fungus growth only.
