I am sure that if you fell into the waters of Marina Bay, they will immediately jump in and rescue you without hesitation after they had snapped a few reportage shots of you gulping for air and securing their equipments.

i wont be surprised if they pushed nightmare into the waters. :bsmilie:

nothing more exhilerating than feeling the waves and cold water around your groin. mmmmm.

what you should not do, since i encountered this before...

is to stand around and make loud show-offy remarks to your companion about how you're going to shoot, especially if your photography is half-past-six.. and then make a lot of nonsensical comments......

i'm there to take pictures, not socialise, or drool at equipment, or find a potential wife.

i would also do likewise. Just shoot and mind my own business. Though i might look at them for awhile but definitely not stare... and after that off into my own world to snap whatever fancies me. But i don't mind socialising a little if anyone approaches me.

STOMP the drowning guy? I don't have a data plan. Don't want to waste money so have to go find free wireless spot to upload the pics before I have time to think about saving anyone.

Anyways, to answer the TS' question, I'll find somewhere else to shoot/eat/rest/waste time before I come back to see if the crowds have thinned.

Let me share my experience at Angkor Wat sunrise shot early this year. I arrived at about 5am when it was still pitch dark. There were also some other visitors arriving and everyone had to find their way to the vantage point with flash light. To my great surprise, when I came to the site supposedly for the best shot, it was a circus. I don't see how I could take good pics with such a BIG crowd. I did what I was there for - take my shots, away from the crowd at locations which are pleasing to my eyes. I finished my day happy with my shots.

but seriously every photographer should be 自动 and be considerate.

1. if you are occupying the space, tell him the approaching photographer, you will need another x time, take your shot and let him have the space.
2. or if you are blocking the way, adjust abit if possible.
3. or if there is space for one more photographer, move one side and let him come through.
4. or if you are using a ladder, stow away the ladder and make more space

anyway, I came across a pg who came to "share space"(as if i owned the place) with me during a fireworks take..he politely asked if he could join me..we had a small chat and he even dropped me some pointers...nice guy...after all the socialising, we did our own stuffs..chat abit b4 going off...we even discussed on camera trend since we were both using nikons..haha...it just luck on whom you bump into...but it's always beneficial than harmful to be polite and engage in a small chat...

imho, at least smile or acknowledge if the other person is smiling thn after that do yr own business.
there is no need for us to stare one equipments or at the person itself.
if the thought of thinking others for example is a newbie or whatever it is, juz keep to yrself without having any kind of look.
like pokiemon have mentioned, why it is so hard for photographers to get along.

If there is enough room, I will just set up and do my thing.

If not enough room, I will find an alternate location to shoot. Usually not a problem since space is a plenty and I usually shoot sunrise, where few people every show up to shoot anyway.
