Marina Bay Sands and Flyer Sunset

Hi Guys,

First, thank you very much for the comments on my first post on this forum. I learned a lot. This pic is from the same set, blended 4 exposures.

1. in what area is critique to be sought?
The whole composition. And exposure blending.

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?

Sunset shot, overlooking marina bay sands and SG flyer.

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)

Taken from Marina Barrage around sunset, 4 exposures.

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture

I purposely change the tone curve to make the buildings darker and make emphasis on the color of the sky during sunset. I hope my editing was in the right direction.

1. next time watch out your composition..horizon is tilted
and also you cutted some part of MBS Hotel(also the building on the left part)
i suggest using wider lens...or just focus on the MBS hotel
or move/focus more to left coz you still have enough space on Flyer side.
2. you achieve it but composition wise, you failed
3.hmmmn i guess it will be better if you just make the buildings darker(silhoutte)

A few things that did not work for me here...

1. The pitch black foreground, it does not enhance the picture in my opinion
2. Trying to incorporate too many subjects in the picture. sometimes simple = good.

too many pitch black areas, HDRing could be better...

Yes, I was actually using live view with grid lines to preview but I shift to view finder when taking the shot.

Okay, so looks like making the buildings darker was the wrong move. Thanks for the comments.

I have also a shot with the Marina Bay Sands and the SG Flyer, I guess this was my wide angle shot, purposely to catch the orange sunset sky. Thanks for the comments

I have not tried HDR yet, only simple exposure blending but end result I was not happy. And hence the custom black areas. I guess it was not a good move. Will try HDR soon. Thanks for the comments

Your front is .... too dark . I cant see much in the foreground .
