Freezing time

Taken with kit lens 18-55. 1/200 with built in flash. F5.6. On tripod.

Not sure if its my eyes or the monitor, it looks kinda soft.

Suggestion to improve sharpness and C&C welcome.

Try shooting at F9-11 and remember to switch off IS, mirror lock and use a remote(if possible) when mounted on a tripod. Can also do manual focus too

thx to both bros for the tips will try again. tried about 20+ shots. yes used manual focus (perhaps thats y it turn out soft). Will turn off IS.

How to mirror lock btw? Do you mean using live view (object no longer visible thru viewfinder)? Im using a 500D.

Just a suggestion: maybe you can go lower (as in closer to water level) so that you can see the shape of the water crown better?
Oh, and try dripping dyes too.

Yes, was thinking to shoot from that angle, but limited time for the set up. Next try perhaps. Dripping dyes as in colored water?

may I ask how to set the backgroud? I tried use a bow but maybe it's too small -_-

I used a blue plastic cup (about the size of a coke can). its shot at 55mm. You gotta get pretty close to the subject but careful of water splattering to your lens.
