Newbie trying out new DSLR.

1. In what area is critique to be sought?
- Color
- Composition
- "feel"?

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
- to show sense of helplessness, on how the kid attempts to block the flow of the water, but the blocking itself is only a temporary measure. Once he removes his hands, the water will flow regardless.

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
- 4-5pm cloudy afternoon/ early evening

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
- I like the feel of the photo but would prefer the kid to be the main subject, without the other kids around him.

Thanks for your time.

I think you should at least show the face of the kid to show whether he/she is enjoying the fountain. Right now, the picture does not have emotion. Only the water sprays and shadows are nice. If that is what you want to take, then zoom into the that and ignore and kid.

i notice the guy's back got part of a face....and very clearly a ear there. where the hell that came from?!

omg lol that's creepy

you captured the water well.

try again and this time work on the boy otherwise how do we know he's having fun or crying etc?

ts, can you tell us where that extra ear came from???

to TS...
I think its a case of trying to overexplain the picture... ??
its quite cute, but needs to show the face...
and lose the extra ear by the side...
keep shooting !! ;)

Ha ha ha, I didn't even notice that ear thing but now that it's mentioned, it's indeed creepy. :bsmilie:

Thanks for the comments. My initial intention was to not show the face, but to use the kid's act of suppressing the water to display some sort of pent-up frustration. Guess I wasn't successful in this aspect. Will take about the facial expression thing.

Once again, thanks.

think a direct face shot will be better, nonetheless nice try :)
