keen to get a bag for light photography as well as daily use to maximize the chance to fire the shutter.
a shoulder bag for a body with lens, and extra space for a 10' netbook, a book or 2, a water bottle, a fold umbrella, maybe some more little things.
so I need not to carry a serious photography bag when I just want to walk around without any particular target to shoot, in the campus, on the street or with friends; while I won't miss a good scene when it comes to me.
any brand as long as it's below $200, less, better:)
thanks

I'm using a bag that's about $80, it fits up to a 15" laptop and is super light. if you want padding just go to a foam company and get some padding.

I found my fav bag in the form of a Nike bag... agree with TS. It takes a long time to find one's fav bag that serves one's purpose. What fits one may not fit another. I had about 6 bags of various sizes before I found that Nike is my fav carry-to-work bag (easy access to laptop, easy access to camera, weight-wise, etc).

does your Nike bag protect your cam from impact and dust?

a foam company?
do you mean customizing an inner bag with foams? good idea.
where and how much it might be?

any idea which store has the most choices of bags? i may just go and try this weekend.

I use a normal, non-photography crumpler bag all the time. Other than the main compartment there are 5 side pockets to keep lens separated. It fits a 13" Mac when I need to go to school.

Using a Kata DB455 for my work which allows me to keep my Lenova W201 thinkpad and my D300 with one other lens. With that I take it to visit my branches or take photos on site for work or leisure. A messenger bag that does not look like a photo bag so no one expect to find a camera in the bag where ever I go. light weight without anythign in it so it helps keep the weight down.

to my surprise you can carry all these such a bag.
I will have a try.

I am going to have a try on one "not look like a photo bag" first.
if not idea, it still can be used as a daily bag anyway
thanks a lot for all the advices.

better not put that down too hard, i don't see any cushioning anywhere.

get neoprene wrap + any messenger bag that you like will do the trick.

So neoprene wrap with normal school bags, example like those fashionable bags still okay? I was wondering of doing this too. :dunno:

it will not be as good cushioning as a proper camera insert/bag

but definitely, it is better than putting it into your bag naked......

of course , when you get unlucky and get bag dropping from a too-great height, the inserts will do the job, with the neoprene wrap it's up to your luck. ;)

I am using Muji too. Muji products also take note of the environment (environment friendly) around them when they manufacture their products. Been using almost half a year and the bag still as good.

U can get a 2nd hand Domke F2 in canvas for about $80 ... It's light n rugged n most importantly it moulds to your body and yet spacious enough to stuff in the above equipments u have listed. I know because I am using one n thought of letting it go

Hi there, you got yours from which branch? Do they have paddings inside?
