Any member/s here who are involved in the YOG in Singapore?

How do we get involved in the Games as Official Photographer?

Or can we just get the ticket for certain games and shoot for our own?

" The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) is looking for photographers with tertiary qualifications and above who have an interest in volunteering for the YOG. "

oh yea. i'm currently just getting my sch to approve. once done i'm a yog volunteer photographer.

i'll share with u as much as i know ok?

i believe its spilt into 2 bah. i'm under the youth phtoographer volunteer. our aim is to collect at least 1 photo of each sports person, then make into montage. very big photo:D

and during games day we can help and take photo and help take photos. only selected youth volunteers can be allowed on games arena, aka not in ur audience views

as for their official photographers? i'm not too sure abt it. but they made a clear distinction that we are not media photographers. hope it helps

intersting.. wonder if buy ticket as audience .. do they bar u from taking photos ? (esp if using long lenses)

From wat i found a few months ago, they are only want youth photographers. Aged ppl like us, they are not interested even if u volunteer your time and service

if im not wrong i still have the form for being the photographer for YOG in my other computer. i rmb that you have to have your own equipments, have an online portfolio, be able to commit for 2 weeks straight. must be able to follow the atheletes for their training and mobilise at a moment's notice.

if im not wrong the registration ends this month or last week

im doing photo assistant with them..
its a non shooting job..just got to ensure any photography related work at a location is running smoothly, from loaning of lenses to making sure photog dont get in the way of the games..

but from what i heard, hard for freelance to sign on.
they recruit mostly students but they are NOT the accredited as media photog so the allocations of where they can shoot are very limited as most if not all priority is given to the media photog.

Hi Guys.

I'm shooting for YOG - CEP (main objective) & Field of Play (added bonus) as Young Photographer.

I think the shortlist has been done but age-wise no restrictions I guess as I attended a sports photography workshop and get to meet this pg with 12 years experience shooting sports shooting for SPH via YOG sign-up.

I heard there's restrictions but I'm not sure of any full details on spectators shooting restrictions yet.

Hey fellow Young PG.

Are you selected as one of those who gets to shoot at field of play as well? Hope to see you at the games. :)

All competition sports events are covered by the press and media photographers. They do not need volunteer photographers.

Volunteer photographers are needed to cover CEP only. They need at least 50 volunteers. Anyway, selection has been closed. Age is not a requirement but some photography skills are required. Those who are selected will be attached to a country group, and stick to them. The main task of the photographer is to shoot them in CEP activities. Time committment is very demanding.

Excluding schools, they have their own arrangements. Some students may have the chance to shoot both CEP and competition sports events (but very limited).

Press and Media Photographers will be the priority.

For those ticket holders who wish to use super big guns to shoot, think again. Just imagine you are attending NDP. Feasible or not is up to you.

All the info needed had been stated by USM.

But to add on, some of the volunteers (Young Photographer) for CEP are selected to shoot at field of play at competition venues of their assigned athletes.

If my memories can recall, they had chosen about 150 Young PGs and 30 are selected for the field of play shooting opportunities above and beyond their CEP objectives and it has been selected. I'm glad I'm 1 of them that the committee had chosen. Looking forward for the games to start. :)

I had alrdy gone for a sports photography workshop and attended a leadership training class as had been selected as team leader as well.

Had not been assigned athletes as yet but I will first know who will be under my team for the 12 days and I'll sent out welcome emails to them in June.

If I remember correctly, there will be a problem for JC students who want to be involved. So I guess it's not resolved or never will. That's just my guess bcos the selected photographers had all been notified.

The workshop is more than just in-class stuff. We get to shoot sports events on the sports calendar & probably a few sleague matches. All these are in the planning and will be notified for those selected Young Photographers to shoot on the field of play.

Guess they want us to concentrate on xmm .... :dunno:

but i hope they will allow us, lao jiao to have some shooting with our BIG guns .... and I hope they make it very clear in their activity notices whether non-flash photography is allowed in each event.

You new generation of JC type causes too much trouble for MOE with all the media frenzy especially when you have elite students whacking each other over a rugby match like hooligans in a showcase of Olympic sportsmanship at its finest. :nono:
