I am looking for a slim CPL filter (77mm) with front thread for my UWA lens for my coming New York trip. Apart from Hoya HD which is current out of stock in most places, any anyone advice me is what other brand slim CPL that comes with a front thread? I know B+W doesn't comes with front thread. I also consider Nikon but don't know where to buy..
I prefer some better quality ones which give lesser f-stop reduction...Tks!

Oh I didn't know B+W CPL don't have front thread. Is it just B+W slim CPL? Or all B+W CPL?

slim normally doesn't come with front thread because of the way it is constructed.

the front thread allows clipping the lens cover on as opposed to slipping it on the filter.

ts - if you are not shooting wide angle, go for the normal CPL filter. vignetting will not be as obvious.

If not wrong, only the slim type doesn't comes with front thread but comes with an orig. B+W cover...

I'm buying for my UWA (10-22mm) lens. So slim CPL is needed..

I am using B+W Slim CPL..love it  it comes with a front cover, nt sure it comes with a front thread.. u intend to stack filters, whey do u need one with front thread?

I use Kenko Pro1D digital. It's fine.

I use a B+W F-Pro MRC CPL (ie. not slim) with my 18-35mm on a full-frame and have no problems with vignetting at all.

Maybe you should try it out first before you decide that you need a slim filter. The slim versions don't come cheap... The Nikon one is very good but comes too close to the price of it's B+W equivalent already.

I prefer to use back the orig. lens cap.

Tks! will look into this..

CPL is no good for UWA lens; you're going to get uneven polarization.

I know abt it but tot it's easier than p/p cos not very good in it...;)

Have a normal CPL ( not slim type & lousy brand) & heavy vignetting...

Budget not a big concern cos reckon that it's a long term investment..:)

By the way anyone knows where to get the Nikon CPL? It seems not commonly avail..?

Okay. You should still consider the B+W as it's much easier to clean. IQ degradation is also somewhat-proven to be less than the Nikon.

As you said, it's a long-term investment. So, go try the filters out before you get too fixated with just one brand.

And where did you quote "Have a normal CPL ( not slim type & lousy brand) & heavy vignetting..." from? Anyways, not-slim also got various thickness...... What more to say but "try it out before you buy it". Why did you buy that lousy brand not-slim type in the first place anyways?

Try MS Color

Tried & they didn't carry..

Haha...That was my 1st filter bought 3 years ago before even knowing CPL filter needs to turn ;p. Not to mentioned about knowing the differences. Anyway it's only $35/- if I don't remember wrongly (The brand is call Konix).

Anyway, I will heed your advice to try out B+W filter. Thanks!:)

In fact, most of my lenses are using B+W UV filter...No complain...!

Yes, get the B+W brand. Good quality but a bit ex...

You should be able to get it from Cathay Photo. I think there is also someone selling them in Fu Lu Shou complex. She posted on Clubsnap... sorry that i cannot recall who the clubsnap member is. Her price is cheaper than CP for sure.
