Yes there are plenty of 3rd party lenses for pentax , you can also use lenses way back from the 50's .:bsmilie:

As for wide angle the kit lens that come with the k-x should be wide enough at 18mm unless you need even wider . A highly recommended UWA(ultra-wide-angle) lens would be the sigma 10-20mm. However you might want to wait for the new sigma 8-16mm to come out !

Thanks for the response. Any idea what is the price that you mention earlier? Where do you normally get those lens from? I didn't know pentax lens is compatible with samsung one.

You can check the Price Guide Section.

Samsung APS-C DSLRs are re-baged Pentax ones. So the mount is the same. (obviously it does not apply for Samsung NX lenses)

There is also the Pentax DA14mm and DA15mm primes for UWA choices.

Depends on your budget. Most of the lenses mentioned are in the range of $900 (do check out the price guide of the exact $$)
The 18-55 kit lens is rather wide as well on a lower budget.

Then is the Samsung NX 30mm f2.0 pancake lens usable on Pentax?

of course have.

uwa , depends on your budget, and of course whether you care about having 2 mm more, 2 mm less, etc.

there is also the tokina 11-16 f/2.8 other than what others have mentioned.

also tamron 10-24mm, but that lens is not recommended, it is horrible.

Tokina 11-16 comes in pentax mount ? I thought it only comes it c/n mounts ?:dunno:

i knew there was a reason no one was using it. :bsmilie: thanks for correction.

if you do not care about the limited range, this is supposedly the sharpest.

You must have a deep but unfulfillable desire to replace your Sigma 10-20 with the Tamron 11-16. Have seen you recommend this lens in the Pentax subforum a few times already. :bsmilie: Maybe if we all wished hard enough they'll really start making it for Pentax mount...

Highly unlikely. Tokina and Pentax are afterall working together, and it seems Pentax doesn't think it's worthwhile releasing an 11-16 when they already have their 12-24

I disagree, the DA* zoom ranges more or less duplicate the DA zoom ranges, offering a higher end alternative for people who value the larger aperture, WR, SDM, better build and optics overall. And it's the DA* zooms (minus the 60-250) that are the Pentax/Tokina collaboration products. So the trend is more or less in favour of there being a DA*11-16 f2.8... except that that doesn't seem to be happening. Maybe it's true that Pentax has decided that it's not going to be worthwhile releasing such a lens (the selling price will surely be very high, it's not a lens that will sell as well as the 16-50 or 50-135), but the fact that there's already a DA lens covering the range is surely not an obstacle.

nah, not really.. firstly, i have no money.........

secondly, it's 11mm, not 10mm... you never know when you might need that extra FOV.

it's not a bad lens though, and if you can look past the 10mm versus 11mm issue, and you actually have that lens in your mount, i think it's worth considering..... as opposed to say, 10-24mm ...... :bsmilie:
