olympus E30 and canon 7D which one give more benefit about pictures,colour n which one give the good autofocus? ..and for E30 have image stabilization in site the body n canon 7D in site the lens,which one more stabil?i ask coz i want to buy dslr cam but not sure between olympus E30 or canon 7D....$$$ not the problem.the problem is i want the good quality pictures and easy to find the lens (im sorie my english not so good)

As fellow CSer mentiond, O camp will say Olympus IS THE BEST. C camp will say Canon IS THE BEST and same for any other brands.

It all depends upon your personal need and your style of photography. All the bodies in their respective range are more or less same and similar in all practical purposes. Unless you say 11MP and 12MP are different, yes, in theory different but in real world there is not much difference. So buy whichever brand you like.

I reiterate, in all practical purposes, cameras of different brands in the same range are more or less same. The difference is made by the lenses.

For many of us, we buy only those brands that has a huge support of own and third party lenses and accessories. Because we are never contented with our gears. If you intend to have 1 or 2 lenses and not many accessories then absolutely go for any brand you like.

To me, I will not even accept a free body of a brand that does not have huge support of lenses and accessories. We buy a system, not just a body. We call our lenses as investment

I dont know if you can find anyone who shoots extensively with the 2 cameras enough to do a side by side comparison ... they are all very good cameras ... do include other brands like sony / nikon / pentax into the equation...

All the brands are supported by extensive online resources for advice on lens selection and purchases as well as post-processing advice from seasoned ameteurs and pros. Do understand once invested into a system, it will be unlikely someone will buy more stuff from another system...

If TS is learning to shoot, then either will be good, because the main reason for bad looking pictures will unfortunately be the operator... adding a book on exposure / another on composition / another in post-processing and adding tons of practice will no doubt do a whole more good than any high end camera...

Both are also good cameras & can produce good pictures.

But reliability wise, I heard that Olympus is not really good & their customer service also lagging.

Maybe can check with those who owned them ?

It's hard to make any recommendation without knowing what you expect from the camera. Are you a holiday and leisure shooter, a photography enthusiast, want to go pro..?

But as for quality, stability of image stabilisation systems etc, both cameras are pretty evenly matched. You'll have to go to tech review sites (dpreview etc) to see the minute differences, which are hardly likely to affect your real-world images.

The advantage in number of available lenses goes to Canon, but it's a minor point unless you need some really specialist gear (such as tilt-shift lenses). One advantage Canon (and Nikon) have is that you can rent gear quite easily here, but I believe someone has started renting Oly gear recently, which probably means its market share is rising

Why don't you go to a shop and get some hands-on time with both cameras. I think (you'll have to check) you can play with the current Olympus models at their showroom or service centre at Valley Point (someone pls correct me if I'm wrong -- I haven't been there in a while). See if you like where the controls are, how they operate, how the cameras and lenses feel in your hand, if you like the viewfinder, etc

Congrats on your decision to start on this journey called photography.

Like a normal journey in life, you need a vehicle, which in this case is a camera. As to which vehicle, like my other fellow CS members have all given you a most important tip - both cameras are the same.

I have not come across anyone who owns both systems. Since you have indicated that Olympus has less lens choice, then you should go ahead with Canon. The EOS 7D camera from Canon is a very good camera if you are into general photography. But once you go into specifics, say sports, may not be up to par. In my opinion, the 7D is 2 levels below the top range, the 1D Mk IV.

If $$$ is not a problem, my advice go for the Canon. There is a large market for 2nd hand Canon products.

But at the end of the day, the choice is yours mate. Only you can decide.

So when you get camera already you will buy all the lenses in the shop because money is not an issue right? So you will have one camera and 100 lenses right? Confirm become pro after that. Alot of people use means good? So if alot of people use hello kitty camera then you will also follow because alot of people use means it must be good right? My advice, research and test the camera yourself. Why ask for opinions how to spend your money? Later people recommend then you buy and use not good how? Blame everyone here because they say its good but you use not good is it?:bsmilie:

since $$$ not a problem why not you buy BOTH cameras (with lenses), then shoot until you find a winner, then sell off the loser... simple?

I thought 7D was for sport as compare to 5DMK2 ?
Of course, the Canon 1 series is their top end.

Yesterday went down to Canon@Vivo to have a feel of 5DMK2. Just prefer my D700 feel....

Maybe can include D300s on your list. :think:
