Bought my 1st DSLR!

Yo guys! I guess many of you will be knowing me by now.

I finally bought my 1st DSLR! Guess what I bought? Got myself a new Canon EOS 550D! I bought it at SLR Revolution, Funan.

My DVD drive is currently spoilt, so I cannot install the software to download the photos on my laptop. Should be getting this fixed in the next few days!

Unfortunately, there isn't one on my Lenovo T61 laptop. I'll be buying a card reader soon, maybe around next week. But I'm not sure, will a SD card reader read CF cards?

Nope, unless that card reader has multiple ports. But hey, i do believe your camera comes with an USB port right? From what i know, you can use that to transfer the pictures:thumbsup:

Yeah, but it says that I should install the software 1st. I once experienced some problems with my printer when I connected the printer to my USB port without having installed the software 1st.

Have you tried it? Cause my DSLR does not work like that. Bah not so sure about canon, mine's a nikon;p

No no! As far as i know, all i did was plug it into the computer, go to My Computer and i can access the camera. But seriously it was so long ago and i can't really remember:dunno:
I still think a card reader is a good investment as having your camera connected to your computer is rather dangerous sometimes. You could trip over the wire and S**t and have your camera+lens meet the floor.:bheart:

Your comp shld be able to detect and auto install the driver for the camera. Thus allow you to retrieve your pics straight away.. I'm using this method on my canon without the driver installed...

I did not use the CD to install my 50D's driver.. What i did was just plug it in and it will work. If it does not, u can easily go to canon.com.sg to download the driver. and it will work already.

Hi, bought 550 @$1123 body only with lens 10-22mm equivalent to 16-35mm and find both suits me well. 15-85mm is ok as a kit lens with good review. 50mm 1.4 on 550 is also good for portrait.

I paid $1276 for the Canon 550D Kit I lens, that is 18-55mm lens. No, I haven't bought extra battery; will buy one later.

YEs! I just connected the camera to my laptop last night, I could not wait anymore to see the 1st ever photos from my DSLR! I have Windows 7 and it auto-installed the driver and I was able to copy the photos to my hard drive!

I'm so excited about my new DSLR!
