Hi,

I'm going on a trip soon and have chosen to just buy a JetSaver Light ticket which means that I can't check in any luggage.

I'm planning to bring my DSLR + lenses one of which is a 70-200mm F4 lens on board to the plane.

Have any of you tried this before? Is it allowed?

I brought laptop + DSLR + lenses in my handcarry on Jetstar before, no problems (why would you think there would be problems?).

Then again, how else would you expect to bring it, if you don't/can't check it in in the first place?:)

my last hols.

i carried my lowepro backpack with my e-3 with grip + attached lens , one flash and one telephoto + chargers + batts
and my tripod in its own tripod bag.

no problems there

Don't check in your DSLR stuff... you never know how 'gentle' the luggage handlers are gonna be your stuff or if it gets lost in transit. :dunno:

It shouldn't be a problem bringing your gear on board or taking photos in the aircraft so long as its not during the takeoff/landing phases.

There's another thread related to the discussion: No photography onboard SIA aircraft

shouldn't be a problem, i had my gear on board with no issues.
just don't go snap-crazy on board :)

no problem at all...budget or otherwise, but u'll need a bag for tripods to be allowed to be carry-in.
btw...anybody actually tried checking-in their equipment???

yea its allowed. why nt

I always and will always bring my Cam bags full of gears on board and never ever leave it to the handlers:eek:

As a matter of fact in doing so you can take some awesome photos of the outside scenery:bsmilie:

I did but only when my carry-in has busted the allowable weight by a wide margin. I have checked in an old spare camera body and a couple of lenses, heavily protected by clothing, etc. Done that more than once, so far so good.

TS, Dont ever check in your gear! One of my colleague few years back went for honey moon. Trip back from Turkey to SG, husband forgot to take out the DSLR onboard which was in luggage and checked in, plane touched sg collected luggage then relaised the camera was gone!!. Not sure whelther did they get any insurance claim or not....

Btw, dont worry about bring up camera onboard. I more worried is the camera battery but everythings slove. You can see my link here, also about taking Jetsaver light.

Why can't u? I hand carried my Airport Takeoff with 2 bodies and 6 lens, 2 flashes up JetStar before. No issues at all..

If u are asking "Can i check in my DSLR/lens?" damn is a straight NO (but i believed thats not ur intention in the first place right )
