*NEW* Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC for APS-C announced

Hmm.. It says 82mm filter size, but I don't think it accepts front filters... I can be sure if the front element protrudes out, but the build-in lens hood will be it's very nature make it difficult to mount the filter.

ultrawide. this is the sigma 12-24 FF equivalent on the aps-c sensor cameras! will be loads of fun to use something that wide

If it follows the design of the older 15-30mm, which has a removable treaded ring adaptor that can be slotted over the hood, then it will be able to take filters as well as a normal lens cap.

It seems like a baby of the 12-24 though...

Being able to accept front filters would be great. The thought of buying another set of 80mm+ filters for it since I'll most likely buy it and dump my 10-22 if it could... not so great.

sadly, i don't think 82mm thread size, even if the info is accurate.. is easily available.

i think none of the nd400 or nd110 are available in 82mm thread size.

i don't know if the vignetting will be a problem though.

even with stopping down on the sigma 10-20, nd110 gives quite some vignetting.

For my 12-24, 82mm is the size of the lens cap adapter ring which must be removed if u want to use it to shoot at the wide end.

Anyone wanna predict the price? =)
