Scratch HELP .

I have a 18-200mm VRII lens with 1UV filter and 1PL filter on . I noticed some fingerprints on it so i tried to blow(i know it sounds stupid) . Then i used a brush but it wouldnt go off . So i used a microfiber cloth to wipe it off , and i succeeded .

However , dust appeared right after wiping the print off . So i used the blower together with the brush and made the lens crystal clear . Now that , i noticed 20+ short scratches all over the PL filter .

Now the question , how to get rid the scratches ? And will the scratches on the filter cause an effect ?

are they really scratches, or marks caused by the brush?
try using a clean microfiber cloth to clean it, or a lenspen would be better (if you have one)

Doubt you can remove the scratches.

Shoot a few pictures and you'll know if there's any adverse effect.

they a little lines of 0.5cm and they cannot be removed . whats a lenspen ?

they shouldn't.

you might get increased incidence of flaring, but that's a small thing.

Your brush was probably dirty when you use it.

Dude, I think your just being a little paranoid. Dirt and dust really doesnt matter and they wont show up that vaguely on your pictures. Youll never be able to remove dust completely, once you make it crystal clear, itll pop right back shortly after. Either live with the fact that dust is inevitable or spend every minute of your life as a PhotoG wiping that lens.

As for the scratches, they shouldnt affect your pictures except with Flares with excessive lights, if it really does get bad, just change your filter. Count your blessings that it wasnt on your lens instead.

Do you have a lenspen? Try using the blower, then a lenspen on the marks.

Not sure I'm reading it wrongly, but are you putting the UV and CPL on your lens at the same time? I think one at any time is sufficient.

Good observation. It's futile trying to get a dust clean filter or lens. Accept it, it won't affect your images unless it's forming a layer,

Scratches are minor damages in the surface. As mentioned by others: it doesn't show up in your images. Be careful with flare, though. But in that case removing the filter is the better solution anyway.
Lesson learned: no point being too 'anal' with dust. It's there, just live with it.

Unless the brush or cloth was abrasive, and you rubbed with enough force, and used really poor quality filters, I suspect the marks left behind are smudges rather than actual scratches.

It's also a known practice that folks with chipped lenses simply use ink to fill in the chipped portion of the lens and that helps reduce the flaring potential.
