would like to know how is the process of credit/debit card dispute case ?
anyone had this problem before?

Which bank?

Did you or a family member purchased anything online?

"Why was I billed? You purchased a product, membership or subscription from a website that uses Customer Support's services. You should have received an email receipt at time of purchase. If you do not have your receipt, use the Account Information Retrieval Form to view purchase details."

Perhaps you subscribed to something (even for free, but you will be subsequently billed every month) and now will bill you every month?

but i was puzzled that the transaction was did at 9pm last night when i wasnt even at home. btw, for debit card, once transaction is made , they will straight away show ur leisure balance and current balance. but the day before , my money was still inside, in fact on the day by itself in the morning i check that my money was still inside there.

just call the bank up, and let them know

you should get your money back. you can give them specific instructions to only release transactions when you have given them calls.

i am surprised. i got my card frozen in italy because "i had not informed that i was travelling", when i needed it most for a train ticket. thankfully had another card that worked. but then again, sometimes there are lapses, since i had been using the card in london for a few times then.

perhaps only certain countries , i.e. scam-rich countries are highlighted.. whereas places like uk, usa.. more lenient, especially with the amount of online purchases you can make for these countries to singapore.

Is it possible that a virus had detected my card number ? Cause i had a virus scan over night and found a few worm and keylogger hiding in my system.

if you have kept it on your computer, or typed it in online, it's entirely possible.

If I were you, I'll

1. Call up the bank to halt the transaction from paying through.
2. Make a police report for yourself, submission to bank for justification of instructions and bank's internal investigation.
3. Render assistance to the Police when they call you up for further details.
4. Cancel the card and apply for a brand new card (with new numbers)
5. Format your computer and watch if cashiers at merchants take your card to swipe in strange devices other than the authentic POS machines.
6. Look out for attachments on ATMs at the card inserts point to avoid your card being cloned.
7. Take note of mechants who print receipts with every digit of your card on it. (Some even has your CVV on it!)
8. Shred your receipts before diposing them.

This is what I'll do, I'm not trying to tell you what you should do.

What i do most of the time is i will check my passbook within a week to see if any unwanted transactions have been made after my purchase.

Eg. You buy something on a Tuesday using your GO! Card, make sure you check your bank accounts for the week till sunday. Gives you a peace of mind at least.

And when you key in your card number into an account, remember to delete the number off and replace with jibberish numbers.

Also if your computer's security system is able to screen through your credit card number, activate that function as well. I use Trend Micro, and it's able to do that. Only thing annoying is that if it detect any url or codes, using the same last 4 digits as your card, it will block that function and prompt you.

Hope that helps!

But did you purchased something from them before? Or you got sonething for free, and after a certain period you are getting billed and automatically charged?

If so, you usually can still stop subsequent charges, by stopping the subscription, sometimes you are getting things for free the first time, but then you are automatically being subscribed and then billed after a month or so..........

If not, then it could have been that worm, and you should call your bank that issues your card, and see what they can do. Since it is a debit card, I am not sure if you can get it back though.........it is not like a credit card, although both are through the Mastercard system

Do you have internet security software installed? Something like Kaspersky Internet Security?
Then if you have, do you update the virus/malware/spybot signature files daily or at least weekly, better still set it to auto update when an update is available?

Many people still think that as long as they have an anti-virus or internet security software installed they are very safe and protected. They don't know that signature files must be updated.

Ensure it's not ur own bill first, thn report it to the bank. They hv a department who will investigate. POSB called me one day, asked if I did online transactions for $0.01 cents. They advised me to cut the card, they will issue a new piece.

After 1 month, they billed me for annual fee for 2 cards:(
damn funny.

Problem here is a that he used a debit card, so its more like a normal bank ATM card but using the Master/Visa system, so the debit is immediate......not sure if it can still be revoked/reversed. This is the reason I cancelled my debit card from Citibank, and cancelled the debit card part of my HSBC ATM card (but can still be used as normal at ATM's of HSBC/Stand Chartered).

Even if I did an transaction which entitle me to a free thing than after 1mth they charge for momtly fees which I don't recall doing it , i checked with posb , if a transaction was made online , automatically it will straight away show my leisure balance and my current account balance . But last night at 9pm the transaction was made when I wasn't aware of it till I Check my account balance that night. Transaction only can be made if they have my card no. And CCV number which my card was all along in my wallet.

And yes , I didn't have kaspersky till last night I installed it and found a few worms and keylogget hanging in my computer ...:(

You can do transactions overseas with a debit card.

Correct me if I'm wrong , debit card cannot do online overseas transaction unless I'm overseas and doing transaction on the spot .

You can do online transactions through both overseas and local merchants, no need to be physically present.

sigh. so suay.. i went down to POSB branch , they asked me to wait for 10 working see if the settlements go through anot..

if really cannot than i gotta suck thumb and learn from this lesson not to do online transaction.
