hi i need help in understanding the functioning of 1Ds Mark II. I want to understand why one of the several boxes in autofocus view is always brighter. earlier i was getting different boxed red at different times.

User selectable AF points are bright red when selected. Not all the 45 AF points in 1DsMII are user selectable. Those not selectable are 'assist' AF.
 

The brightest box is the selected box. Those not so bright box are light leaked from the bright box to illuminate them. (Older focusing screen illmumination technology) Multi bright boxes mean you are on auto AF select mode. The body will automatically select some points to be in focus. I use only the single point selection mode and registered the center one for quick sleect.
 

Different lit up AF points = automated "let-the-camera-decide-what-to-AF-on mode"

I can't wait for my 1DsmII to arrive later today! New toy! OMG NEW TOY!
