This is the often used quote by mis-informed ppl who use some other brand. I doubt they even have a look at the Pentax Pricelist before they mention this.

But anyway... here is the truth......

;)

Yes, I know we have a 'Show us your Pentax' sticky, but its kinda 'specialized' since usually only Pentaxians browse it.

Do share your collections large or small. Collections only pls, since I don't want to clash with the sticky.
I'd like to point the mis-informed to this thread next time, instead of having to type again that Pentax has enough lenses. :)

ermm...pentax really dun have a lot of lens. Eg, 35mm f1.4? 50mm F1.2? 85MM f1.2? but these are really some high end lens that even nikon dun have...

I really like their pancake series though..If only they come in larger apertures...

Whoa there! Is that 'your' own collection?!?!?!?! If so, I bow to thee... oh great God of Pentax lenses! I think I am aware of two other Gods here... Denis and Frank! Wonder which of the three of you has the most impressive 'eye-popping' collection!?!?!

True! but you miss up..Desmond & Ben Loke.

And then there is the Voigtlaender Nokton 50mm f/1.1. And, if I remember correctly, Canon offers a 50mm f/1.0L USM. Did anyone attempt to make a f/0.9 ever?

Wonder if these can be used on a Pentax camera with appropriate modifications/mounts?!?!?! Has any Pentaxian attempted to use one of these? Maybe the more experienced lens gurus here can throw some light on my query.

One image from the Voigtlaender Nokton 50mm f/1.1.

You may have missed the point. Is everyone going to buy the ones you mentioned?
We are really talking about a comprehensive range of lenses rather than specifics.
Its pointless to compare as such. As you have already mentioned pancakes? ltds in their respective focal lengths (31, 43, 77)?

The slightly faster apertures that is possible comes at 2 costs. Those being the much larger lens element diameter and with it lots of added weight.
Pentax pancakes go the opposite direction.

The 50/1.2 is already mentioned by nightmare.
The 85/1.2 its a terrific lens, here is how it compares http://www.16-9.net/lens_tests/pentax85/index.html

Its not a great collection. Certainly at the foot of the mountain compared to those Pentax Gods who reside in this forum. There are many out there and characteristic of most Gods they usually like to stay silent :D

Pentax is a treasure trove of lenses to look out for and buy mostly at good prices. The range is certainly comprehensive and not like what ppl like to claim.
The legacy support is unbeatable, not like many brands in which even with the new 3rd party lenses a new camera model or firmware may well relegate them to expensive paper weights.
Not too expensive as well.

not bad la, i think the long lens in the background left there, i gaffer all my gear together in one line, will be smaller than that. :bsmilie:

sticky this tread in the newbies corner ;p

I think TS misunderstood the meaning behind those statements... People are not saying that Pentax has very few lens. They are saying that in comparison with Canon and Nikon there are fewer Pentax lenses.

But why let it bother you? As long as you're happy if what you have, let people talk.

All the others always say "Pentax has fewer lenses" but do you really need to "buy" all the "others"? Are you really going to use all the "others"?

All those who say the above are talking through their noses as far as I am concerned.

i will use the brand that produces the one lens to end them all,

a 10-1000mm lens with constant aperture f/1.2 with close focusing distance that allows me to attain 1:1 magnification at all focal lengths, and is small, compact, and light.

but whether there will such a brand, dan gu gu.

:bsmilie:

to be honest, all brands have the usual lenses that most people will need. why ask for what, 35mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.2...... these are relatively specialised lenses, e.g. 85mm f/1.2 usually used for portrait shooting, that do not really have a place for the common user.

this is a bo liao thread to me... i admire photos...

On the contrary, i think we should try to dispel the misinformation spread by ill-informed sources with facts. This is another way of expressing that fact.

While some people like to see photos, there are also many who look at lens options. ;)

This thread should serve as another way to show fellow photographers the rich history of PENTAX lens. In essence, PENTAX has over the years produced many fine and optically good lens.

This fact has often been neglected and as a result many photographers which are new to DSLR are not aware. They are constantly bombarded by the advertisements from other brands, and has little knowlege about this wonderful brand called - PENTAX. ;)

This thread may facilitate a brand awareness. The ultimate choice of which brand to sign up for is still theirs. ;)

how many lenses u see in the pics are still in production... ? showing a bunch of discontinued lenses does not tell ppl we have lots of lens options... its just tell ppl about ur lenses collection...

u want to dispel the misinformation... should post how a DA16-50 can perform, how a 50-135 can perform, how a DA12-24 can perform etc...

To you maybe, but to me its creating awareness. I think maverick has already brought up the points to the thread.

No new users, soon it will be a few old men meeting up in a dingy pub admiring old lenses from yester year.

These are easily bought if you bother to try.
If you think we need to show DA stuff, yeah, sure, help post the pics of some.
