Spyder 2 Express - Advice Needed

Hi,

I understand that Spyder 2 Express is not suitable for new displays like OLED and those LCD with narrow angle of view. I have a Toshiba L510 Laptop with the following display:

14.0" WXGA HD Clear SuperView LED Backlight TFT display (16:9)

is it suitable for Spyder 2 Express? When I first bought it, the display was very bright and crystal clear, very happy with it....till I print my photo, then I realised how far out it is...

Spyder 2 Express seems pretty hit or miss with different LCD screens... works ok on my old LCD screen, when I tried on my netbook with LED backlit screen, the colour looks c@#$... but using the Spyder 2 profiling puck with ColorEyes Display Pro, colour looks great... not doing an advertisement for the latter software but just sharing my experience... i.e. YMMV...

Oh, thanks for sharing. In this case I think its better off for me to get Spyder 3 Express or Pro then.

yeah, probably... the thing about the "express" is that the software does not provide much adjustments, which is prob the reason for the results... and as proven when using the hardware with another piece of software, its not the fault of the profiling puck... in any case the hardware is the same as used in the more "pro" versions of Spyder 2, the differences in the various versions being only in the software...

Oh, but why do you use the Spyder hardware with ColourEyes Display Pro software? The Coloureyes Display Pro's hardware not so good?

So to say if you bought the Spyder Express version, it is possible to use the hardware on a different software (i.e Spyder Pro)?

yes, if you own the software... basically, the difference in price of the different packages is due to the software, not the hardware... same for the newer Spyder 3 series...
