having this digicab 50L, I know that the constant dryness is good that is why the cabin is for.

Anyone's face this, if you did not use your cam for nearly weeks, the humidity indicator turned below 35 even you set the knob to be like 41-45 range..

and when you opens it up, there is a kind of smell, not foul but perhap smell of dryness?

Bro, never too dry man, for my akarui 50L, i maintain it at 48~52,
Anything lower, you will risk the low humidity drying up the lubricant within your lens and the smell is inevitable becos of the rubber component in ur lens and bodies..

my bad.. i turned the wrong direction..

Hi, jus got my akarui 26L. the salesman told me to set it to 'M', as in the medium setting. However i notice that the level is in the 30~35. is it too low?

Too low bro, u know my knob is at "H" exactly to maintain at 48~52 range.

You will have to tweak ur level settings until the ideal RH is reached.

ok, will try to monitor. thanks.:)

I tweaked mine into 45%.
do you think I should tune it to 48%?

Think is individual preference, not being paranoid. (for me i felt safer if the settings linger btw that range.. FYI

RH of 45% to 55% should be safe. If you're too concerned about the accuracy of your Hygrometer, try to get those dry cabinets with Digital Humidity Controllers.

If you are worried about the power consumption, its pretty low. More convenient to leave it on 24/7.

Check you manual to see how to adjust the humidity, it should be a small knob inside the cabinet. It will take a while to stabilise, once its 45% RH (plus/minus) its fine.

I'm using AIPO with RH 40. Power consumption very low also....

So guys, u saying that it must be switch on 24/7?? well, I thought maybe we jz turn on till the RH meet the line and switch it off. so its a NO?
hmm.. seriusly, I dun understand wats the manual talking about.. haha.. so where do i go nw.. pls direct me..

There is no way you can get an exact and constant reading. Just make sure it stays within the recommended range.

Like Kit said correctly that there's no exact and constant reading. Keeping your RH between 45 to 55% should be fine. Even if there's a +/- 5% error, your RH would still be between 40 to 60% which is still acceptable.

The reason why you got to turn on your dry cabinet forever is that moisture can still travel from the outside to the inside of your cabinet via the same route. Think for the moment, how did the moisture get expelled out of the cabinet? That will be the same route they take to get back in.

After all, consumption is not more than a dollar or two per month. So the pinch is still manageable.

Correct me if Im wrong. Been using my AKARUI dry Box for quite sometime. The setting S M L depend very much on wat u store inside n how many items you stored. I store 1 DSLR body, 2 kits lens, 1 video cam, 2 campact digital cam, 2 filtre n few memory card. Setting between M To L. RH at 45 to 55. The red light will auto OFF once reach desire RH. Will back ON once door opened. Sometime the light indicator dun even ON if I pick my stuff n close the cabi door within few seconds. About the power consumption it's really low for mine. I tot this days all analog cabi should comes with such function? Really good for 24/7 auto OFF. Electric bill is less then $1.00 for sure. Hope this help.*
Do you guys know where I can find my akarui cabi tray or how to DIY n wat material to used? Pls share.
