Many here got great deals on either K7 or Kx because of the current promotion. But quite a few guys still don't know which lens/lenses to get to match these great cameras. Some start w/ some cheap manual ones, some want to go all the way for those FA limiteds or DA*s.

If you know me, you'd know that I've had pretty much all the Pentax lenses that I could find or afford. But I just feel that most lenses don't really match the camera well (size/weight/look ...).

Why kit lenses are called so? Because they were designed and made to match our cameras. To me, I think they really match our cameras the best:

Optically our WR kit lenses are good to very good, probably not as good as those faster and bigger lenses, but they are more than capable of making wonderful photos. You wanna see some samples by the 18-55 and 50-200, take a look at these sites:

There is another thread on DPR which has some wonderful scenery photos taken by the kit lens, I just can't find it. If someone still has the link, please update. Thanks.

So which lens to go with your newly purchase K7? At the current insane price for the dual WR kit lens, they are no-brainer. you'd feel sorry if you missed the boat. Plus the new DFA100WR macro, you are set for a long run :)

Oh and one more suggestion to new guys here: the first thing you do after you bought your new camera is to go out and take some photos. Don't just sit here and look for some fancy lenses (which you might never use at all after some testing shots).

Nice post FW. It is not often that you provide antidote to LBA. d:

Indeed. Wise words from the master.

The new WR lenses do look sleek with great IQ to match. Do play with the kit lenses first. Because this Pentaxian wants a better shot at bidding for his dream lenses. :bsmilie:

He's only pretending to provide antidote. If you look closely, he's trying to poison people with the DFA100WR...

Reading FW's post makes me feel like buying the K7 and the dual WR kit lenses this weekend....

Yes, agree, go out and SHOOT... no point "examining" the K7. This weekend, I will do it for sure. Also Sunday at Pierce Reservoir, when doing Qi Gong. Pls continue to show your masterpieces! Do we have a thread devoted purely to K7 Gallery; K7 Lenses; K7 Techical?; K7 Tips and Tricks; K7 Troubleshooting; K7 whatever... This way, easier to navigate. Maybe Fengwei can do it as the moderator.;p

No! He's trying to poison us with FinePix F31fd :D
So don't ask him what lens he used to take the photos ;)

Wow! I guess I should write a book about the K7 camera :bsmilie:

The two WR kit lenses are such a good deal, I just wonder why people are even considering an 18-200/18-250mm superzoom.
I used my DA 50-200mm WR with no filters in light rain with a 30kmh prevailing wind blowing fine sand during my Aussie holiday with no issues.
WR is the real thing.

Heihei, F31fd is indeed a very nice camera :)

I might go too, but my daughter got class in the morning, and I'm booked in the afternoon

That's right. You have to get a pair of WR lenses to match the WR body :)

I am getting c0ck-eyed. I kept reading this statement as "Heihei, FA31Ltd is indeed a very nice lens." :bsmilie:
