Hi,

Anyone has any experience buying from them ?

http://ddelectronics.com.sg
Prices are cheaper and I am thinking of getting a few stuff if they are reliable...

I had a real bad experience with them.
[1] ordered a lens by phone with them before Christmas. The guy told me he will call me back when the lens is in but waited after new year still no news.
[2] called them a few days after new year and another guy (Mike) pick up the call and said there was no record of my order. He then told me he will check online with their Australia warehouse and told me there is one in stock and he will airfreight it in for me and call me when it gets in. No news from Mike after a few days.
[3] Try to call them last week, Friday and Saturday - no answer after repeat calls (> 10 times).
[4] Yesterday, get in touch with Mike again, he doesn't seem to remember my order and told me there is no more stock on the lens. He told me he will get back to me after checking with their Australia store (again).
[5] get back to me an hour later and said no stock. He told me he will check with their US partner (in Houston) and get back to me before 4 pm. (that was yesterday).
[6] no news at all from Mike. Maybe he forgot about this order again.

Good thing I didn't pay online (I asked for COD and self collect) so I didn't lose anything other than wasting my time with them.

Others might have good experience with them but I would suggest you don't give them your credit card. Try COD and self collect. At least you won't lose much if something like what I described happens to you.

I swear everyday someone starts a thread about them. Generally they are a honest business (ie, no bait and switch tactics, scams etc) but some people like CS TAN above might have had problems with their customer service. I think if you do a search for dd electronics both on this site and on google you'll see what I mean.

A few threads discussing this company has been closed by the mods. I guess they are afraid the TS has a hidden agenda in trying to promote this company.

hey!!! any idea if their item is local set or parallel imported?

Interested in Sigma 24-70, not sure if their warranty is 2.5yrs or only 1 year...

I did a search on CS and cant find much comment and similarly when I did a search in google and I cant find much too..

the only good one I got is from CS Tan and that my personal experience is when I call the shop, no one answer...

Wasn't your earlier purchase experience (Kenko TC) with them is good?

That was before my latest encounter. The previous one was straight forward but this one...

An update on my earlier post: Mike called me just now (one day later than he had promised) and told me they are completely out of stock on the lens that I have ordered. He sounded apologetic about it since it is his fault to sell the last copy to someone else that was reserved for me.

Well, just share what happened to me and let others make their own conclusion.

I have purchased my canon battery from them since most of shop quoted very expensive and no stock. I called mike to check if there is stock before going down to collect and made payment. Luckily I do that rather than on-line purchase.

this reminds me of that company that shut down

PP photography? can't remember

oh yeah, PPCP , very erratic customer service.

No lenses... i mean not a single product for these two excellent underrated cameras (sony, pentax)?

Wow..

they just suka suka increase their prices liao...no much incentive to buy since I can get from a retail shop with local warranty...

i had great service with them in sydney for years. i will definitely give them a go here.

Just to check with you if u have good service from them, what about the warranty ? Did they gave u the manufacturer warranty or their own shop warranty ?

CS Tan,

What lens did u ordered ?

since CR Kennedy (Sigma) doesn't honour grey import, they offer in-house warranty and/or Mack service contract. the camera mount on my lens worked its way loose 2 seasons ago and they had it repaired quite quickly. that's the only time i've needed service. i've never worried about other lenses or anything else from them.

i never got a body from them so can't comment on that.
