Retrieve Private Number

Hi all, i received a call from a private number; Would like to do a call back. Which would be the right agency (singtel??) to go to for me to get the number - if even possible.
I'm an M1 customer.

there is no way you could call back to a private line. the caller had paid a premium to stay confidential

If I get miss call from a private number, I don't bother to return call, since they don't want to reveal who they are, than so be it.

I don't even answer the call from a "private number", if u so scare people to know who u are, then keep it to yourself.....
So far only encountered once....

Not possible unless required by a court of law.

Most of the time it's bank telemarketers.

Actually, I hate private numbers. Worse, I miss the call and don't know who is the caller.

Possible sources of private numbers:
1. Telcos - Singtel, M1, Starhub
2. HSBC Bank
3. Mindef
4. Some property agents
5. Overseas calls

7.
8.
9.

I think it is really silly to have private number. The other day I had 3 missed calls from private number. Subsequently the person called again. This time I picked up the call and the person said he was from Singtel. I said wow about time you guys called I have been expecting your call for 1 week. He said sir, we tried calling you today but no reply. I said I wouldn't know cos your number shows as private. As far as I am concern, this is the first time you are calling me!
So moral of the story private numbers are a complete waste of time!!!
