Right Size for Dry Cabinet

Hi seniors, as a newbie to photography, what will be the right size of Dry Cabinet to start off without the need to upgrade in 3 years time?

Is a 36L one too small or just nice?

Appreciate any kind advices for those who already walk past this stage.

Don want to get one and regret in 6mths time. :angry:

Depends on how many lenses you ae buying. None of us can predict your needs or expansion pace. If we could, I'd buy toto on the spot!

Size of cabinet depends on what you purchase in coming years.

Assuming thread starter is owning a Nikon D90 DSLR body and standard walk about lens, one 36 liter cabinet is certainly sufficient.

my current dry cabinet is 38L but if i had a choice, would prob get something in the 40L range and above. but then it also boils down to ur budget n space constrains at home

well if you dun intend to expand your collection of lenses that fast within the next few years then the 36L is sufficient.. but ask yourself whether u have set aside budget for it?

if you intend to expand ur equipment list, i would suggest to get within the 40-50 range so that it can accomodate more.. also being a cabinet inside.. you can store other stuffs that you do not want moisture to ruin them..

of course, space and budget is also important

I've a 36L, I'm storing about 4 lens 1 430 flash, 1 DSLR, 4 PnS and sometimes my leftover cigarette...

buy the biggest that fits ur current budget. u never know when ur lenses will outgrow the cabi.

A 36L can fit 2 bodies, 4-5 lenses and a couple of flashes.

But its cramped like hell and you can easily bump your precious gear on the way out of the cabinet. Just buy the biggest one you can afford IMO.

I got the 88L as I dun like the idea of cramping everything together. I put my watches inside too!

I've a 30L digi-cabi which i split into 2 level to store my equipments as listed in my signature.not sure how much bigger is a 36L but I find this 30L too squeezy for comfort. the depth of the cabi just nice to fit my sigma 70-200 mounted on D90.

this 30L was used for my prosumer b4 till I've switch over to DSLR and end up with all these equipment in less than 7mths. So my advise is get a bigger one as u may get infected with the BBB virus

Should the front and rear cap be remove from the lens when It is in the dry cabinet?

See hw deep ur pockets can go and how long u think this passion leads u.
Everyone surely have that "dream lens" in mind.. You wun't wan to get a 36L and have a "in the near future, i wish to own a 300mm f2.8 etc as i wan to try bird photography" mindset

I would say 50L would be the smallest you should consider.

TBH, it will never be a white elephant because a dry cabinet is good for storing all your important documents as well.
