u sure u got a UV filter for $140?

If yes, i think u kana chop left right center already...

I do not understand why people like to buy first then ask if they got overcharged. Research first, buy later. If you want to buy first, then don't research after and save yourself the heartache.

don't know abt 77mm but the 67mm Kenko Pro1 is in the region of $50 so i don't suppose the 77mm is THAT much more ex... maybe u check the filter that it is just a UV filter or maybe it's CPL or something.

Good god, I posted the link in the second post here... Please click and read.

i dont know about you, but ever since J316 quoted me 95 for a 77mm kenko pro 1D filter, i never stepped into the shop again. and that was like end 2008.

immediately i took a cab down to orient photo at sls, and got the SAME filter for $45.

Mine only $60 (or $55) from TK...

TS, you can get B+W liao....

Rashkae is right, check the price guide to have a ROUGH guideline before you go buy.

Anywhere. :)

Edit: Err, actually, price guide don't have Kenko Pro 1D UV 77mm pricing wor...

Haha :bsmilie: Patient Rashkae ;p

Moral of the story : every shop is the same regardless recommended in this forum or anywhere else (there is no saint shop). Basic rule : do research before buying.

I got Kenko Pro1D 77mm CPL from Orient for $100. You are Super chopped, almost diced.

J316 also quoted $180 for my Kenko Pro1D, I also took a cab to Orient and got it instead. Still got money left to eat 2-3 good meals.

I have never ever nor will ever buy from J316, maybe the service is excellent and they throw in extra special service, but to me, it still does not justify the prices that they charge.

Why don't TS go back to J316 to ask for a refund?

honestly, why should they?

seriously, even CASE cant help you. they sell you, you bought it willingly.

Lesson learnt for not doing the homework properly. Even if the price list sections for filters are not updated properly, you can still get a rough idea by looking at the mass sales section.

Why didn't you post this question enquiring the price prior to your purchase?

PS: I'm not trying to be rude by any means..

If they are such a good and honest shop that a lot of people are raving about, then to charge $140 for a $70 filter will considered unethical. Maybe there is a mistake so perhaps give them a chance to correct that? Or, at least let them give TS a reason for charging such a high price.

For those chop shops, I wouldn't recommend TS to go back but J3:16? Definitely. I don't think Sam will come after TS with a stick or something... ;p

$140??? can buy B+W xs-pro slim uv already and still have change back....;)

very disappointing to hear this about J316 - i thought that was one of the trusted shops to go to.. their service isnt that great either.. very friendly, but extremely slow.. got my tripod from their about a week or two ago.. without exaggeration, i was in the store for one hour before i was able to get my stuff n leave.. very annoying.. cathay photo is the place, i think! best service, good prices

I know J316 to be a shop that is often packed, and their prices are not the lowest, but to overcharge double is something I have not known the shop to do. I know they do make mistakes when the shop is crowded, as we all do make mistakes sometimes too... but maybe you can go back and talk to Samuel. He is a reasonable man and if you explain to him, I'm sure he can do something for you. I've been sending friends there and when my friends come back, I ask them how much they paid for the stuff, and everyone of them have not been overcharged.
