Today i just went to a CS-listed Lucky Plaza shop to get my lens. won't mention names.
(Nikon 24-70 which is $2.7k so of course i am detailed on checking it)

That guy was friendly on the phone and also when we met.
Then he showed me the first set.
Opened the aperture under flourescent tube there were so many spots of fungus/mould

then he said nevermind, he will send back to Nikon and showed me second set.
Fungus/mould again. This time that fellow patience ran thin and said he only has one last set. Fungus/mould again! And he said, "the way you check lens i dont think any lens can satisfy you"

And I said, so are bringing these lens back to change. I can come back to you next week.
He said "No, I am going to sell it"
Damn isn't he contradicting himself when he said he will send the first set back to Nikon?

End up i bought from somewhere else.

MOULDY LENS and that fellow continues to sell it, fellow CS buddies, please be very careful when dealing there. I think there is problem with his lens storage.
You have been warned.

so did you say "oh Lords how can this happen"

No comments on the shop name.
I just smiled and left, just reaffirms my impression of Lucky Plaza vendors.
For those good vendors I really pity them, having such black sheep tainting the reputation of that place.

If you don't name names, how would people know which store to avoid??? :dunno:
So should people just avoid Lucky Plaza completely?

no names camera shop in lucky plaza....then...wats the point of ur thread leh?

Not rocket science.

How many shops at Lucky Plaza are even considered to be viable by CS members?

hmmm....r we on the same page as what is mouldy on the lens?

TS, whats wrong to post the shop name here if the issue is true? Or u just make up the story?:thumbsd:

Well frm experienc based on why I read in tis forum, Lords seems to b e only shop in lucky plaza worth visiting..

You dnt mean them hor?lol
.*nevermind since u nt saying..

all this is analogous to a victim of rape refusing to identify her/his assailant becoz he/she is family...bums the cops out everytime.

if the lenses are Molded and the shop try to sell it you, you have to inform Nikon about it. Nikon will look into this matter very seriously.

if not, we will not take it as a genuine case here.

I concur, you've to inform Nikon Singapore.

This is a serious case don't ding-dong ding-dong here about the name of the shop.

...
You have been warned.

whats it that you are warning us for...not to buy 24 70 or not to buy it for 2.7K or what :dunno:

if what you say really happened then 1) you should name names 2) Send a mail to the store pointing out the defects you faced including the name of salesman 3) CC nikon on the same mail.

no point blabbering here and there os it it that you are afraid of "he who can not named"

i have never gotten any problem with lord's..

just for the record. they have provided good service everytime.

are you certain that it is fungus and mould?

Seriously now... without naming any shops, what do you expect CSers to do?

For all we know, you may be from another camera shop in another location trying to ruin business for Lucky Plaza shops? If you are not prepared to back up your claims with more information, you do not hold much credibility...

in any case i have a friend who bought a grey set without being informed it was one.

THanks for all your reply.

I am not from any camera shop. And don't you think that is why I am not naming names or recommending anyone else?

To me, any shop that sells me the item at the cheapest price with reasonable service is where I go to.

If I name this Lucky Plaza shop explicitly, I end up at risk of being sued. It is obvious who am i talking about, you guys know.

I am just trying to share my experience with everyone here who contributes to the wealth of knowledge in CS.

Not my intention to tell you not to buy but to be careful when you buy, especially for those newer members who do not know how to check lens, better to bring an experienced person along. So it is a warning, a highlight, not a STOP sign.

Cheers.

1. I name them, i risk getting sued. Who is paying for my legal fees?
If you sponsor I dont mind hee hee.
2. Why should i send a mail to the store when I did not buy the lens?
3. Yes I take your advice and will contact Nikon separately.

Luckily i was not done in. I did not buy and i left.
So since i was not "raped" I am not a victim.

I am just sharing a warning, not an accusation.
