sensor dirt?

hi all,

there seems to be a dirt/dot on the images from my camera. however when i used a blower and checked the low-pass filter, i really can't see any dirt on it, seems to be clean. and yet the spot still remains on the pics. anyone has come across this problem before?

just a wild guess, i was running with the camera before the spot appeard. dunno if this had anything to do with it..

Can you post the photo? If its not your sensor thats dirty, did you check if its your filter or lens? Or some dust particles stuck between the lens & filter if you are using one?

thanks. the spot just looks like the normal dirt that you normally have on your sensor, basically looks like a rounded black/gray spot on your pics. i did check if it was the lens that was dirty, but even after changing different lenses, the dirt still appears on the same spot everytime

if it was dust on the sensor it should be visible from the surface, but i didn't see anything..

if you lock your mirror up and use a blower to blow the sensor, but it still remains, you either have very hard to remove dirt (if the black spot is quite large) or a dead pixel (if its a really small black spot)... either way the best option is take it to TCW or to the service center... dangerous to play with the sensor other than using a blower

actually i'm not really sure what it is, don't think it's dirt as i can't see anything, and it's also not a dead pixel as the spot wasn't there at first, and it's not a very small dot, but a bigger spot just like a normal dirt on your sensor. it just appears out of nowhere and it refuses to go away..

but thanks anyway, if it gets worse or if more spots start appearing then i may have to take it for inspection

With over a few million photodetectors in a CCD or a CMOS image sensor even a microscopic dust speck is enough to cover a number of the photodetectors resulting in dust spots in your images when a narrow aperture is used.

Dust on the lens elements generally do not show up in the image even when the aperture is stopped down to over f/22.
