Hi,

I'm impressed by the LX3 quality for RAW format, the colours are beautifully captured. But not so impressed by the price. (I'm on a budget you see.)

Is there a cheaper/older alternative for LX3?
Like FX150 or LX2?

I owned a few basic P&S and an old Canon S1 IS, not satisfied with the quality of JPEG.
Now want to get something compact and with RAW format.

Fujifilm F31fd, dosent have raw but good IQ.

maybe you can share what is your budget? I had seen a few LX3 going for $500+ in B&S but they are all being snapped up quite fast!

LX3 would take me 2-3 months to save for it.
I thought there would be older models of high-end P&S with RAW that are quite close to LX3 in performance. Assuming older models is cheaper now.
e.g. Fuji F30 / F31 as suggested, the review was in 2007. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf31fd/

I saw FX150 photos also quite impressive colours.

But dunno got stock in SG and whether cheaper than new LX3, otherwise I'll just save up for an LX3.

Canon G9 from 2007, also the later G10. The only G series that does not have RAW is G7.

Save up and get u actually want. Rather than getting something else and wished that u had gotten what u actually wanted in the first place. 3 months isn't a long time for something good :)

Yah that's true. I can wait and save up to buy LX3. Maybe by then LX4 came out and the shops are clearing LX3 stock.:bsmilie: But unlikely, even after LX3 was launched for so long it is still hot potato. :dunno:

F2.8 - F4.9 (LX2) vs F2.0 - F2.8 (LX3) makes a big difference on the results :)
