The elusive feral

Hi all, i know there's many cats photos under the "World of Nature" and the title of my thread "Cats and Birds" is rather boring, but i wanted comments on composition,framing etc as i'm still learning. blunt honest personal views are all accepted

I think the framing is a bit off. Whilst it's ok to break the rule of the 3rd if you have a reason to, the eye of the cat in the middle of the image doesn't seem to work here. Either cropping closer or giving more space to the right of the cat would probably be better. The red flowers on the left are a tad distracting as well.

What was your purpose of shooting this shot? Just as a test shot? Any motivation behind it?

IMO cat shots are over-baked, because they are such natural models..:bsmilie: pics of them need more creativity in order to stand out. I guess capturing their expressions & interesting moments would be better..

If you capture the cat yawning,scratching its back, licking, catching rats, show it to us.

i think cats may be over-shot, but this specimen is really pretty still. you could have shown off the long whiskers and eyelashes more by changing angle. Also, your current angle shoes 1/2 the left eye, which is kind of weird as we can't see the pupil, it looks like the cat is blind. showing either both eyes or one might be better

hi knox, hmm, my prefered choice of shooting a cat is to capture their natural behaviour which could be controversial i know because cats always have different behaviours which is also in their natural pose. Thanks, i will pay more attention to the background and cropping in future.

Hey benson, yeah, i think it was my mistake here in underexposing this shot because i've forgotten to increase the EV while using manual lenses, perhaps that makes me to commit the overbaked process. Ok i will take note on their expression and interesting moments

Hi club21z, it seems like i need to spend more time on cats to capture its behaviour, but sometime a feral like this blue eye cat always spook off when i get to close.:cry:
