AP gave me a SANDISK class 2 8gb SDHC card. I find the accessing of photos very slow. Should I purchase a class 4 8gb SDHC card instead? Would the accessing be faster?

What is the recommended pricing range like and which brand would be better? Are kingstons good?

For Jpegs, the difference is insignificant. May be more worth if u're shooting RAW & wouldn't mind paying just a little more for Class 4. If u're planning to use your camera on a long trip, it may also be worth it to just buy another card anyway.

Thanks for the headsup. For jpegs, i can shoot 1500 over shots. How much can an 8gb card take for RAW shots?

i bought 2 16G SDHC cards only because I like also to shoot lots of videos apart from just photos........... video clips eat up ALOT of memory

I'm thinking your point is pretty true after all. Lol.. Now you have poisoned me deeper.

I can't remember the exact number, but u can find the estimated shots for both RAW+Jpeg or just RAW alone, in the user manual (electronic version).

By the way are there any microSD to SD card adapters? Cos i have a Sandisk 16GB class 2 microSD and thinking of using it with my LX3 when i get it tomolo.

there is... i have one that comes with my phone. tried it on lx3 and it works fine
din try take raw thought

I guess i won't use it for now unless really need to if i record more HD videos. For HD video, an 8GB card only lasts just over 10mins.

An 8GB card can only record so short a length of video? I bought one piece thinking it may be enough for photos and occasional video recording. Now thinking whether need to get a 16GB one...

Yes that's what it shows on the screen. A 16GB one maybe just over 20mins or so. To be exact, it's 10mins 30sec HD video or 1657 pics in full res jpeg format for an 8GB card.

i thought not? i remember u could take several 10mins HD video...
i thought its a limitation by the software?

Found out it is the limitation of the camera.

Just for info, I usually can get more than 400+ shots for Raw+Jpeg on my 8gb SD card. And that includes a few 2-3 mins of HD video recording thrown in.

Somehow I think LX3 video recording is limited to 10mins. But have not tried to test the video recording duration.

If it's a limitation then take a few 10mins HD videos lor. I also haven't tried it.:bsmilie:
