hi guys, just wondering if anyone can advice on which photo hosting site out there that's free and has huge size limit? it's a pain to look for place to upload dslr pic.... thanks in advance guys! :D

you can resize to post on web

no one said you had to post your full 12 megapixel picture to flickr.

if you resize it to 800 pixels or 700 pixels longest, even at quality 100 in jpg, you should be looking at < 300 kb per file.

flickr upload limit is.. 100mb, that's nearly 3x 100 = 300 files per month, or even more. saving at quality 80 should give you ~150kb per file, that's 600 files per month.

of course, you can only see first 200 photos, but who cares, the hosting is still there if you want to share your photographs.

don't want to resize la... cause i plan to use it as some form of backup in case my mac decide to die on me.

got already haha but kiasu lei hahaha :D
if can upload to some host i can access it while i'm not with my computer too mah :D

then, sorry, won't be free.

you can try stuff like DEVIANTART, i don't think they have upload limits, but good luck to you, if you are trigger happy. i remember a 2-3 mb file took me nearly 5 minutes each time in the past on singtel broadband 10mb plan.

for something fast and reliable, flickr isn't expensive at all.

DEVIANTART has free uploading, no limit.

the only thing is that you cannot upload files larger than 30mb.

for photography, unless you are stitching together megapanorama, not going to be a problem.

but like i said, super duper slow. have fun waiting, i remember you have to upload ONE BY ONE, so cannot upload, then shake your beh sai and go to bed

hmmm... deviantart limit at 30mb? haha think i'll try it out night86mare. thanks =)

per file.

they don't call it file or photos though, they call it DEVIATIONS

so the rule is

30mb max per deviation, but unlimited deviations. it will be hard to hit 30mb on a jpg file even full sized, even for 21 megapixels.

file size limit is not really the issue...its the amount of bandwith allocated as well as how much storage they can give among other things.

one thing to look for is if the image provider is able to count the number of full size hits/views for each picture.

Why not just pay for a pro account on flickr? If you plan to use it as backup, seems reasonable to pay for decent bandwidth + storage.

I rarely hear people back up their files online. Get another external hard disk then, if you are that kiasu. Or, if you really want to store your stuffs online, I suggest you should zip them (compressed them) and upload as a whole to file hosting website. Otherwise you would take forever to upload and retrieve.

go fro TUMBLR! accpet very high res

your images cant be very important to you if you are using a photo hosting site (free) to back up the images...... so try this..... dont shoot in RAW.... shoot JPEG at a lower resolution so that you can store more images and more quickly online

I find your logic strange...... you pay so much for a 7D but you are stingy on storage...... a 1T or 500G external harddisk is not alot of money these days

i dun really understand, so does that means, we cannot scroll through the pages to see the pic other than the 200, but we can share all pic (inclusive of those other than the 200 limit)?

ed9119 - i already have a 2.5tb external.... full.... i need a place with huge limit so i can put my pics ya? and as i've said, i'm bleeding from my purchase ya? and i don't want to be using a paid account as nowadays, EVERYTHING can be gotten for free so why waste the money ya? :)
