Hi all,

I am going to Bangkok next month for Holiday.
Thought of buying a Nikon AF 80-200 f/2.8D ED lens if the price is cheaper there.
Can anyone recommend a shop to me. Not necessary cheapest, as long as the shop is honest and the price is resonable. ;p

prices seem attractive!

Prices ain't cheap tats for sure...
Tried to get my 24-70 in one of the camera shop in MBK before (can't remember which one) to my horror it turns out to be 200+SGD more than what i can get here...

got my stuffs from Fotofile

lowepro backpack about $20 cheaper, D90 about $100 cheaper. nikkor 70-300 zoom lens about 100 cheaper also

They are cheap when they are on sale.... I got my cam $1000 cheaper than here :bsmilie:

No point to share lah, end of sale and the model already replaced with newer model

My point is just to tell ppl that on certain time certain product would be much much cheaper than sgp

revive old thread. I'm going there this weekend. Lets just say i buy something for $2000, vat refund is $200? Any minimum?

vat refund is about 7% if i'm not wrong..
need to go 2 places at the airport..

just be careful, i was there few weeks back n find out some lens are grey side...

it depends on which shop you're buying from..
any shop will guarantee 1 year warranty..it's up to your choice..
but definitely cheaper than in SG :)

- Minimum amount to claim VAT is THB5000.
- Dont check in your stuff until visit the VAT office at airport.
- If you want to claim VAT, my advice is to arrive early, head to the VAT office for the officers to check your stuff and VAT form. After
that you can check-in or hand carry your items.
- Past the immigration counters, you can proceed to the VAT office to claim your VAT $$$.

*Note: There are 2 different VAT offices (before and after immigration) for this VAT process.

Happy Shopping.

prices dun look cheap ....

im going this weekend, and was wondering abt the same thing too, where to find camera shop in thai.

thks for the heads up.

I was also interested in looking for 2nd hand stores in BKK as heading there over new years. Anyone have suggestions for a couple of 2nd hand shops? Focus is on lenses, flash, tripods etc...

Thanks!

Just came back from BKK recently... The shop itself will give 20% discount for all their items including filters, lens, etc. Therefore u can gauge their prices from their website. Tripods are not cheap in BKK. Filters are dirt cheap... A hoya HD 77mm CPL will cost around $120.

There is a 2nd hand shop at the first floor but dun remember the name of the shop. I only ask for 55-250mm and was quoted around SGD 275.

BTW, I think Pantip Plaza sell cheaper lens but have to search around in the plaza.

anyone has any experience in buying accessories such as flash in pantip plaza? went into this shop "Camera & Lens" and was quoted 13200THB for the 580EX II...

i was wondering if they also offer VAT refund for tourists.. do accessories come with international or local warranty?

Pantip plaza is interesting place to buy electronic stuffs.. can bargain at the shops to reduce the amount equivalent to VAT refund..
zoom lenses are cheaper and more negotiable than stuffs like flash and prime lenses..
brandnew items comes with 1 yr international warranty I suppose.. need to take shop seal..
bought myself a D90 & a Tamron18-270, spare battery & some filters.. it was a good buy ;p

VAT refund depends on individual shops. the big shop right at the top does has vat refund. the filters are rather cheap and most of the lens i asked are also cheaper than singapore price.
