1. In which area is critique or feedback to be given?
the overall feel of the composition, what mood does it give you?

2. What were you hoping to achieve with this image?
i hope to portray togetherness and love amongst the siblings.

3. Under what circumstance was the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
emotions

4. Thread-starter's personal thoughts about the image.
i was out driving on the busy streets of manila when this scene caught my attention... elder sister having to bear the weight of her younger siblings on her lap, just to be able to catch a ride together in a squeezy public transport. the day was hot, and the traffic is terrible. i can feel how these children are tired and bored with this trip, but they are enduring the situation as long as they are together.

Actually, I can't feel the love. The word "LOVE" may be in the background, but the 3 siblings seem more despondent/contemplative than anything else.

Can't link title to picture, the children seem more "lost" as like not knowing where they are going in the truck.

point taken, thanks... any comments about the overall composition? hungry to learn... your critiques would be most helpful... thanks!

suggest a tighter framing to cut out the unnecessary clutter and to draw the viewer's attention to the main subject (children). also a greater contrast in the b&w tones.

thank you for the suggestion! the shot was actually taken while am inside a car, hence the softness of the shot... so i tried to exaggerate it in the PP by making it a black & white, then i used the IR effect. but now, i think making the blacks more black, and cropping it tighter made the picture more interesting... will take note of this... again, thank you!

TS, reading your personal thoughts, I then realized that the girl in the centre is the older sister and that there is a younger brother on her right and a younger sister on her left, while she is peering out at the world in between them. I think the key subject missing here is her lap. If we could see the weight of the younger siblings on her lap, I guess it would indeed be love.

Using hugs, kisses, eye contact etc to portray love is nice but sometimes too in your face. I appreciate the out of the norm portrayal of Love in this picture.

At one look, the viewer knows that this is taken in a developing country. The love can be seen from the sister bearing the weight of the brother, like what you have mentioned.

The left most girl is drinking a pack of soft drink? I can imagine their parents might have saved a long time to allow her to splurge on such a luxury, and it is done out of love.

There is another angle to this photo too. I realise the lack of an adult figure in this frame, perhaps these three kids are orphan? and this can be the portrayal of lack of love. in the case, the word 'love' on the left adds a new interest to the picture. It is like capturing a street brawl in the foreground, and in the background there is a graffiti with the word 'peace'.

thanks for the critique bro, i actually cropped this shot because when i tried to shoot lower to include their shoes in the shot, the wiper of my car blocked it... hehe... thank you again...:)

it is true, there are two sides of stories in every picture... thank you for your critique bro, appreciate it!

due to new guidelines of approval required for critique section, ur photo will take awhile to be posted up. so be patient.

anyway...first thought that came to my mind when i saw the photo. "What love???"
i had to read ur write up and stare really hard at the photo to see what u were talking abt.
(i.e ur focal point is too small compared to the rest of ur image. which is probably why zaren opted to crop ur photo further.)

one more thing..is the word 'love' on the left top corner of the picture there already? does that make ur title a pun?
