hi everyone,

;)
thinking of buying new a dslr soon, canon or nikon.
budget ard 2k wif kit lens.
i read many using 500d, 50d, d90, d300.
i think these are my choices which narrowed down.

can anyone recommend some reputable shops and lobangs besides best denki, harvey or courts??? and maybe can pay by installment.

i only know a***photo selling a lot of dslr, and some of my frens also buying from there.
are there any other shops u guys always shop???

thanks
regards

Hello...welcome.

Which cam to get will depend on yourself cos you are the one using it. If there is really a universal cam for everyone, then all the other brands can close shop already. Go to the shops to see which is more comfortable to you. I have friends who are like you who cannot decide between the Canon & Nikons an din the end they bought something else. ;)

Hello, ckevin77. A very warm welcome to you. $2000 can buy quite a nice camera already. Certainly a Canon EOS 50D+kit lens. Well, I say this because i am using Canon. But as pointed out rightfully, go down to a good reputable shop and ask to try out. I have PM-ed you.

I recommend the D90, but I suggest u try out other brands first and see which suits u the best.

yup, your 2k budget is pretty good enough for max either Canon 50D or Nikon D90, both with kit lens.

Or you could settle down with a slightly lower price body, such as Canon 500D or Nikon D5000 then get yourself more options by spending a bit on lenses, such as 50mm for a start or a tele ;p

Hi ckevin77,

Welcome to CS :)

Do remember to set aside some $$ for accessories such as dry box / cabinet, memory card, etc.

thanks galdor.

Hmm, unless it is at some IT fare, D300 do not come with a kit lens. (correct me if i am wrong).
Plus D300 cost slightly more than 2K, from the last time I checked.
And I might think that D300 as a starter camera is a little too much. What if your interest die off after a few months?
(I am not saying that you should not buy the D300, because ultimately the choice is still down to yourself)

I would suggest that you try out a few models before you decide on your choice.
Get a feel on the size of the camera, the buttons layout. This is affect your usage in the future..

And like what some other people said, setting aside some money for accessories is important too. You won't want to go out without a proper bag or reliable tripod.

Cheers mate, hope you'll find your ideal camera soon.
