hi all,

anyone knows anything about the cam shop that is opposite John 3:16?

i had a pleasant experience with the shop people. very friendly and give lots of tips, even though i just bought a very cheap and small thing.......

that's my first time there and i never noticed that shop before......

The shop name is SLR Resolution if I am not wrong. The Manager there is Jason Lin. Prices quoted for lenses are reasonable.

Chat with them a couple of times and certainly very friendly. Good hang out place when J316 is too crowded.

P/S: I am not related to SLR, directly or indirectly.

what's the name of the shop?

yes, that's the name.......

i'm surprised that no one in this forum ever talks about this shop.

everyone wants to talk about those so called 'famous' shops that we all know..... CP, AP, OP, John, blah blah.....

i happened to stumble upon this shop tat day and they are really friendly.

in fact, they taught me more than any one of those 'famous' shops..

i wanted to look for a simple thing such as a lens cap with string.

i went to Funan AP. the guy just asked what size i want, and he just quoted me $xx, and looked away..... in the first place, he never asked me what cam i'm using so that he can make sure he's selling the correct size to me.

in fact, i was wrong in the size i wanted, as i found out later....... this AP really bo chap..... what if i really buy from him? can i come back to change???

2nd shop i went was Bally. now this guy is better. he actually asked wat cam i'm using, and he corrected me in the size. so he's good. but his price is not cheaper than what i know. so i didnt buy from him.

3rd shop i went was John. John was so crowded..... now i know why its so crowded...... coz the sales guys talk **** too much to the customers..... this is not a good customer service. its a nice friendly gesture to talk to customers. but if he spends too much time talking ****, then its not good. it affects sale $$

and i see some customers just stand at the counter, looking at some catalogues and just talking **** with the sales guy. and that sales guy is attending to another customer.

then i went to this 4th shop, SLR Revo. the shop got no customers. i just went in and just asked abt the lens cap. not only they asked about wat cam i'm using, their price is so much cheaper.... i REALLY mean REALLY CHEAPER.... its 60% CHEAPER....

the only thing is that the lens caps got the cam brands on it and my camera brand is not one of them.... hahaha... so i hesitanted abt this........

so this guy recommended another option for me, which i bought it... and it only costs me $2. Even cheaper than the lens caps....

i started to talk to him and ask him abt UV filters.... he explained to me abt the different ranges of UV filters and why some are cheap, why some are so expensive....

then we talked abt cam bags and he explained abt some bags' features compared to other brands.....

i left the shop with such good feelings. and i wondered why no one in forum ever talked abt them........

AP, CP, OP, MS and whatever 'famous' shops are not the only ones in the world........

i'm sure that if you talked to SLR Revo nicely, they can match the prices that these 'famous' shops are quoting, and you get a much more friendlier attitude.

Is this at Funan or SLS?? :)

Totally agreed with donut88...was there 2 weeks ago, was asking about the Tamron 17-55 and some other accessories. Very friendly people and would go through the trouble to check pricing for you.

Bottom line, their prices is very reasonable..can match those famous shops.

BTW am not related to this SLR shop...:)

I have seen a few good reviews of the shop mentioned here. Probably they are still too new and awareness is still not there yet since most people will go to John 3:16 straight or AP when they step into Funan.

Glad to see another happy customer of that shop. Will definitely give it a try when I need to buy stuff.

Thanks for the recommendation bro donut88. :)

Oh...the shop outside selling alot of camera stand right?

Been to this shop ,and bought my D90 from them.
Their price over there are very reasonable.

My friend was there looking for filter, and the staff over there started explaining to him. he even open up 2 filters place them side by side and explained what the different between them.

Thumbs up for their professional services!

Hi,

I will certainly drop by SLR the next time I am around the area. John 3:16 is good except their attention span on those who are buying can be quite short. they tend to let customers WAIT too long. This explains the "many" customers at any one time.

There was on more than one occasion where I asked to see a particular lens and it took the sales person 5 minutes to get it when it was just behind him.

I saw lots of people waiting to be served or being serve-and-wait.

No doubt, John 3:16 has the best traffic count and are trustworthy but when it comes to PR, they should improve and for a higher turnover in sales.

I bought my tripod from them. and its a real good deal & thumbs up for their customer service. Too bad sold out liao as my friend went there after a week to get the same tripod i bought during their first day of opening.

Personally I don't like the shopkeeper's attitude in AP-Funan. I remember going in one Sunday afternoon where there is not much customer in the shop asking if the sell a few lens. Most of the lens (which are very common lenses) they say no stock, until I ask about the Canon 85F1.8. But they question me am I buying, my response was that Yes I am but I need to confirm if it's a good copy and there is nothing wrong with the lens first. They say try already must buy.

As I had purchase several items in AP-SLS before, I mention to them that I was able to try & test the items first before deciding if I were to buy the camera. Their response was "We operate differently". :sticktong

Personally such an Attitude to me is :thumbsd:

Been hearing about SLR Revolution. It is a new shop right? Might stop by and check them out.

Hello, donut88. Thanks for your heads up on this new shop.
Sounds interesting.
I am sure they are going to get a few new customer hits over the next couple of weeks...

Happen to pass by 2 days ago, nice set up they got there.
showcase for tamron & sigma lenses look good man.

yeap. i got my 7d there. good service and price.

actually there's been quite a few mentions of this shop at Funan already... have yet to go down but certainily plan to do so some time soon

The shop has opened about a month ago as I still remember seeing the flowers and everything in front of the shop.

Some one told me they are from SLS when I was in J3:16 chatting with people there. Not sure how true it is.

The shop is directly opposite J3:16 so if they are a decent and honest enough shop, they are going to get some traffic off J3:16 sooner or later. Of course, there are those who swear by J3:16 and will never switch.

New shops always have this start up difficulty in gaining customers' trust as there are not that many customers had experience dealing with them. It is good that this forum acts as a place to pass on the good or the bad about a shop and I am sure the word of mouth here is going to help building that trust if they are honest, helpful and their price are competitive.
