Less people taking public transport

Public transport seemed to have theoretically improved since the implementation of full day bus lanes, its extension to many roads and the mandatory give way to bus traffic code. But why is it that the number of public transport users are dwindling and private transport users are increasing even when our population figures are booming? :dunno:

given how pack is the MRT train are and have to miss a few trains then can finally catch one, bus also don't follow time table, what do they think of consumer choice?

Given a choice if you can travel in comfort in your own car at your own time on the music at the desirable vol. And travel in a packed Train / buses with Banglas and inconsiderate humans who with their PSP, HP, or Music playing to max vol.

Got lots of people buy car after gov allow 100% car loan, that is why. Some people say that you can properly estimate travel time by car. Not all true as when you reach there car driver need to find carpark and that can take some 5 minutes if you are lucky or forever if you are unlucky (downtown peak hour).

Hehe I dun drive during peak hrs onli travel via train haha cos office in CBD not worth it travelling via Car.

I try my best not to take bus/mrt. Been at least 2 weeks since my last mrt ride? It's the convenience of driving, getting to your location w/o going a big loop (by bus/mrt), then walking a considerable distance? It's always more convenient to own a car, otherwise there's always a cab. Lol. =X

LOL cab... I will never take cab haha you try taking cab on a weekday evening time or between 8-10pm in CBD??? Not a single cab in sight all hiding somewhere in Marine Barriage or somewhere isolated with 'On Called' sign put up haha.

Tats y no use taking cab la. Had interview a few cabbies haha all give the same ans.

'Waiting for people to call cab earn more $$' --- got the point??? haha

driving a car is good.. a luxury but finding the carpark, parking and paying for the carpark charges especially in CBD areas is just erm... crazy.

going to CTE is already like payin erp 2X .. 1 to enter CTE , 1 more when you enter the CBD area. not forgetting carpark charges which is high.. and if you go the wrong way and wants to go back in , you gotta pay erp again.

taking the train is always so full. its like fighting a war just to get in and out during peak hours. buses go one big loop.. takes generally longer time . taxis.. if you have the money go ahead

Haha in this case it seems all forms of transport kinda suck. =X Hahahahaha. but depends on the individual I guess. =)

tats y would you even take a cab and pay extra $3-$5 exclude the travelling charges as compare to taking train with just $1-2 for the whole journey home on a weekday evening?

I wouldnt even consider a Cab for that matter.

i spoke to one cabby beforre, its not their choice sometimes because he said the taxi company implemented that taxis must take at least 1 on call consumer , as supposedly some people called the company and complained calling takes longer .

That is because of all the unnecessary rules. With rules, there will be loopholes. If you don't have mid-night charges, then taxi won't disappear by 11:30pm and reappear at 12:01am. If there is no on-call charge, then you won't see taxi all with 'on-call' sign up and waiting for someone to call. Blame this to the policymakers...

I think you have a point there
Its the Taxi policy that drove people into getting their own cars, but the policy makers
always see others as problems, never themselves....now, sounds like they want to make
more changes,,,that's why they publish the report to justify themselves first..

But if you are a train or bus user, do you find there are less people or more people
in the train/bus ? ? ?

I wonder if there was a survey done .........

lol publish report is one thing but you and I as consumer already know the truth and the loophole right....

So whats the point, thats why if i work late i will rather take train than taxi. Unless after a certain hrs i can claim then call cab if not hell with it.

On Weekend will drive rather then public transport

I agree, policy makers who insist our transport system is without flaws should try taking a train around the town area on a weekend afternoon. We pay fare increments for SBS to upgrade their buses to handicapped-friendly buses but they say their bus is not ready to take handicap passengers yet.
