Hi. I'm currently looking for a backpack solution for my current and future camera gear. Have used bags like the Fastpack 200 and Computrekker AW before. The Fastpack was a little too bulky for what it could store, and the Computrekker's padding is rather inadequate.

The bag should be able to store the following...

2 gripped bodies
35mm 1.4
85mm 1.8
2xSpeedlites
Etc stuff
Laptop

Have looked around and decided to get either the Kata DR467 or the Tamrac Adventure 9. I know where to find the former for an extremely low price. This is not the case with the Tamrac. Went to K13 just now and saw that the Tamrac was going for $186. Judging by the prices of the other bags in the shop relative to the lowest street prices and the quality of the materials used in making the Tamrac, the price of this bag should be much lower than what was quoted.

My question is this.. which other shop in Singapore might stock the Tamrac?

Thanks

Don't go to K13 for anything.

Tamrac bags look good and feel good but are heavy!

Understand what you mean. Their prices are rather steep, and the shop assistant didn't even know which bag the Adventure 9 was. I had to look for it on my own lol.

I don't know about the feel good part..Lowepro has better quality but they don't seem to have a bag that I like. Tamrac Adventure 9 is very close to the ideal size that I am looking for. Guess it'll be Kata after all? Seems like a good deal for $106 when compared to similar bags

The last time i check, Mscolor and OP have stock for Tamrac adventure series.

Thanks. Will call them to check tomorrow

Crumpler Karachi Outpost

That is too expensive. I'm not very inclined towards Crumpler DSLR bags..

TK seems to have a large stock of Tamrac bags.

Ah, what i really like about my karachi outpost is that it looks great, great zippers, great padding, and best of all doesnt look like a camera bag.

I got it for US$170 , it retails for 270 :D:D

Lowepro Vertex 100 AW
Think Tank Photo Shapeshifter
Think Tank Photo Airport Ultralight
Think Tank Photo Streetwalker HD

In my opinion the Karachi Outpost is an overkill based on TS's equipment list. Too bulky and heavier than the Tamrac Adventure 9.

The Adventure 9 will be able to fit the items quite nicely. It's obvious that the Karachi Outpost will fit much more stuff but it will also cause a sore on your back in no time.

I only used the Karachi Outpost for an overseas trip and sold it. Went for the Adventure 9 after that.

strange that it makes the back sore. I carry my 5D Mark II, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8 IS, 450D, 17 inch macbook pro, and all other accessories in the karachi outpost to university everyday and i've never encountered that problem. maybe it's different for people with different builds. I am 6 feet 2 inches with a muscular frame so its not much of a problem for me. However i still think it's got great ergonomics

Uh..that explains it. I don't have a build that you've described and am already past 30.
My Karachi Outpost then had 40D with grip, 1D with 3 batteries, 10-22mm, 70-200 f2.8, 85 f1.8, 580 EX II and a macbook when I was in HK. Most of the journey was on foot and it's really

Nothing beats the poor padding of the Computrekker..put a laptop in there and the bag literally feels like a brick

hehe, you nailed it. And may i add that the Lowepro's look nasty.

I'm fine with how the Computrekker looks actually...

i meant lowepro bags in general

Alright it seems that Parisilk is out of stock for the Kata DR467i at the moment. Called MS Color today to enquire on the price of the Adventure 9. Seems a bit steep at $180.

as far as i know, the adventure 9 is always in the region of $170+. never heard of anything lower than that.

Was at OP just now, bought a Kata Dr 466i, saw the dr 467 there also, maybe you want to call them and find out?
