Hi, I so glad to be a part of clubsnap! I enjoy photography on an everyday basis,
working and learning everything as I can, like a sponge!
How does the Nikon Complete Collection of plugins fit into an arsenal?
I want to buy it from here: http://mspwincess.ioffer.com

In my opinion you should read carefully. It's only "Nik's Complete Collection", nothing to do with Nikon. Secondly, there is a section "Digital Darkroom" here where you could discuss such topics. Decide for yourself whether it is useful for you. If you use Photoshop or Lightroom from Adobe you can get lots of plugins for free in the respective user forums or directly from Adobe Exchange.

Also, be aware of software piracy. If she's just reselling the same license over and over again, it's illegal.

Thanks for the responses, I emailed her and she said its unlicensed, and I noted some feedback.
Anyways, I greatly appreciate the feedback and hope to keep my photography juices flowing!

Unlicensed? Or any kind of GPL that comes without fees? What exactly are you paying for?

Nik Software owns the license for this particular software. It's not GPL so it's probably not legal. Many people do this kind of things in online auctions etc.. The sad thing is many people rather pay for illegal stuff than legit ones.

Okay, what do you think about Alien Skin plugins?

It's only "Nik's Complete Collection", nothing to do with Nikon.

Actually it does have a link to Nikon as Nikon have a capital investment in Nik software. And they have collaborated on various software technology. But I take your point as intended in the context.

Thanks for the information Jed. Well, if NIK and Alien Skin are not good options, can someone please recommend a suite of plugins which won't run me over $500 in this economy?

Let's be honest, all I really care about is the final photography product.

Then don't use the plugins and just use the built-in PS tools, or get the shot right from the start. Great photography is not dependent on some magic bullet plugin.

FYI, here's a reply from Nik Software.

Thank you for contacting Nik Software.

I have reviewed the links you provided in your email. It would appear that the offer you are referring to on iOffer.com is not a valid. One key thing to look for is whether the seller provides a real box/CD or just a download. Only Nik Software is authorized to sell electronic downloads, therefore you can assume that all download offers are not legal copies. When looking use caution, as there are many scammers on places like this.

If you have any further questions, please reply to this email or call our Customer Service Department toll free at 1-888-284-4085 (+1-619-725-3150 outside of the US). Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm PST.”

Best Regards,
Shane

Isisaxon: thanks a lot for these efforts

Thank you for the responses. For one, I do not have photoshop. Secondly, I was just asking your opinion on the suite of plugins as I was told they were great even if I don't get it the FIRST time. Anyways, much appreciated for the information, although I could have sent an email to Nik myself. Good Day, Seniors.
