Hi..just wondering if i can heard from the users of the above lens? How come so many of the 7D buyers want to sell them? Is the quality at 135mm acceptable? Blurry? Is it becoz the lens is not gd enough or just that you already owned better lens?

I'm getting one tomorrow and hope you can provide me with some valuable reviews? Thanks!

if you are unsure, then why spend that money buying it now?

wouldn't it be better if you are sure of what you are gonna get and not have any doubts about it?

Hold on for the moment I think is the best....

Buy what you need, and not what you desire....

If you do not know the quality of the lens, better to wait for online user's review.....

there are already short reviews of the lens. it just depends whether they are reliable or not.

those pple whom is selling, i believe they already have better lens, thus dont need the kit, and wishes to recover more money. for myself, i have ordered the 7D body alone, as prices of 18-135 seems very unstable as its flooding the market.

i believe the price paid for the lens will be very worthwhile. just that pple dont need it.

Reasons for so many 18-135mm is for sale:
- People rushing to buy 7D and was unable to get the 'body only' so they have to get the bundle and try to sell the lens. In this case, they would already have something better.
- People getting the 7D kit set think they can sell the kit lens at a small profit. They might be in for a surprise as the 7D price is still not stable and couple with the no. of kit lens on the market.

Thx pals..i gotten the lens liao. Looks good! I like it alot...somehow it seems so much sharper than the sigma 18-200 os version which i sold to make way for this lens. :) And i got this lens for only $535! Hehe...but i forsee this price will drop further though coz i think most ppl prefer 17-55 or the newer 15-85 i guess.

I'm one of those that rushes in to buy canon 7D + lens because 7D body is out of stock.
Did a testing on the lens and was pretty surprise by the IQ it offers.

IMO, this lens is sharper than my 18-55mm, 18-55mm IS, 28-135mm USM IS and maybe tammy 17-50 F2.8 that i used to own.
To nitpick, the build quality of this lens is really plasticky....like a toy.
Very light lens and good for travel.

I hope this can be a guide to those who are interested in this lens. Will continue to do more trial test on the lens if i have more time

Your 18-55 lens crop is not the same size as the 18-135. I downloaded it and resized it, realised that it's similar but with the 18-55 being the winner in sharpness in my humble opinion. In terms of contrast, the your photos of the 18-135 definitely does look better. I have to admit that my eyes arn't "trained" to pick out such details yet, and it probably would take many more years to aquire that skill, but based on my amaturish view, the 18-55 is ever so slightly sharper. I refuse (partially self denial i guess) to beleive that it can be sharper than a tammy 17-50 F2.8 as well, unles your copy is not a sharp one or has focusing issues.

Just my 1 cent worth.

Thanks for pointing out...i linked the wrong file.

17-55mm F2.8 IS USM with focusing issues...hmmm i doubt so cos i just send in for servicing and checking 1 mth back...
I am pretty happy with the sharpness my 17-55 offers...maybe i am not tt particular abt sharpness...lol
I do not have a tammy 17-50 to test at the moment....maybe those who have it can do a comparison....

the image you see with your cursor off it belongs to the 18~135
rollover your cursor on the picture and you have the 18~55

as a self-declared canon fanboy , i'm very disappointed with them

i totally agree with you.. if you need zoom for Canon.. 18-200mm IS is the way to go.. Even 18-200mm IS is much better than 18-135...

The best in IQ using Kit Lens
- 18-55mm IS
- 18-200mm IS
- 18-135mm IS (lousiest)

camera lab tests already confirmed 18-135mm IS has inferior IQ compared to 18-55mm IS...

sharpness, CA all out

Hi there, my deepest apology that i dun really understand what u are trying to say.
Ur link doesnt work.
What i am sharing are the photo taken from my 18-135 and 17-55 lens with my 7D.
I've used to own both 18-55mm and 18-55mmIS, and in my humble opinion i feel that they are not as sharp as 18-135mm IS.
Thats my opinion...:)

Or maybe my 18-55mm IS isnt the sharp copy....

The photos shown are taken from my 7D with:

1. 18-135mm IS
2. 17-55mm F2.8 USM IS

I not trying to be biased on the 18-135mm IS, just that sharing the photos taken from the lens and a simple comparison with the other lens that i own too.

Just see for yourself (i have posted photos), in my humble opinion i feel that for the price paid and for the reach and IS it is not really that bad (if you are toking abt S$500-600 lens). Not to the extent of lousiest kit lens

Seeing is believing.....

I have to say that the 18-135mm built quality is much better than the 18-55mm IS that I used to own.
In terms of focusing speed and noise, it triumphs the 18-55mm IS kit lens as well.
This lens was surprisingly fast on my 30D. Quieter and as fast as my Tamron 17-50mm f2.8.

The 18-135mm IS lens design is very similar to the EF 100mm 2.8L Macro, in terms of appearance.
The IS is definitely a much better implementation than the 18-55mm IS as well.

As for image quality wise, you cannot expect the best but for users who don't nitpick, the lens surprisingly offers decent pictures.

I would have to agree with Teegongkia that the 18-135mm IS is a great lens to pay in the price range. In my opinion, more worthwhile than the 17-85mm IS USM.

a picture says a thousand words...

compare with 18-55mm IS, the sharpness and CA of 18-135mm IS are inferior compared to kit lens..
