I was wondering if there is a comparison chart about the different brands of slrs and what kind of picture does a specific brand/series tend to produce. For example, four-third lens system of olympus doesn't work well in low light. Disadvantage in night shooting. The color system of canon tends to produce vibrant pictures therefore is better used for human object shooting.

Erm. Canon colors usually tend to be muted, while Olympus, Nikon and Sony have more vibrant colors by default (Oly for skies, Sony and Nikon for greens and blues)...
And what do you mean by "Don't work well in low light"? To me, the problems Canon has with AF in low light is a bigger problem than perceived aperture size
As it is, such a comparison is TOTALLY USELESS. You need to factor in the lens used, the exact camera model (it's not brand to brand, every model has a different output), firmware version, and the camera settings.
If you would like to spend the next 5 years creating such data, go right ahead.
And after you've created the table, be prepared for every fanboi from every brand coming in to dispute you.
What Rashkae mentioned are generally quite true, but i personally feel that sony colours are quite muted as well, while nikon pics tend to be abit warm..All these views are quite subjective and differ from person to person.

The main issue with DxOmark is that it only takes raw figures, like dynamic range or color depth. It does not cover the subjective values such as saturation/vibrancy, etc etc.
As they themselves say:
DxOMark Sensor measures only the RAW image quality of a digital camera; therefore, DxOMark Sensor is NOT an evaluation of overall camera image quality or performance.
Not only personal preferences make a difference but also the numerous possible in-camera settings. Picture Styles and Scene modes will add specific predefined settings for the JPG conversion, finally creating the impression of colours being muted or vibrant. Maybe Nikon will need Saturation +2 where Canon needs a +3 to achieve a similar result.
Even using RAW one can see the different results when using different RAW converters (Adobe Camera RAW, manufacturer tools, Capture One, DxO, etc). It is the big advantage of DSLR that all these factors can be manipulated and changed according own preferences and intended outcome of the picture. Things that are meant to to be changed cannot be compared in a short-sighted way of "Brand A better than brand B".
If you only want to compare in-camera jpg results you don't need any DSLR.
I think the MAIN differences are
1) in body IS which allows you to have stabilized f1.4 primes, not available with N/C
2) and lens. Certain brands have some lens which cannot be found on other brands. So it is mainly the lens I feel. Example cannon has a 24-105mm f4 IS. Nikon has 14-24mm f2.8.

Anyway, IMHO, most current DSLR are all very good... The different between them are generally personal preference. Also, you might want to check the range of lenses and accessories available from them. The advantage of buying a popular brands are:
1) larger range of lenses and accessories from original manufacturer and third party manufacturer.
2) larger selection of lenses and accessories from used market.
3) lots of information (such as reviews) can be found on web easily due to larger user based.

But the main disadvantage with in body IS is framing issue, because the viewfinder is not stabilized, so what you see might not be what you get... especially if you shoot with long telephoto lens.

The difference is overrated, most of the times. Check the DxOMark sensor ranking and you'll be surprised how small the differences sometimes are.
Some people also argue that in body IS is less effective than lens IS and postulate that that's why canon and nikon dont make body IS but concentrate on lens IS. Which doesn't really makes sense, since they can make both, and disable body IS when lens IS is used.
But cost is another issue, oh wells.
Difference between brands is definitely the lens choice, e.g canon with TS, nikon for their macro..................................leica for 50mm f/0.95. :devil:
Hmm that site seem to list Olympus at the lower end of their charts I can't expect a small difference there ;p
Read carefully how you have to read such results. A difference of 5 in the sensor result cannot be distinguished by human eye, it only exists as technical value. Secondly, keep the sensor size in mind. A smaller sensor with the same amount of megapixel cannot be on par with a bigger sensor. But still it can yield other advantages. It boils down to defining requirements and using the right tool.
Mind enlightening us what effects a particular brand's camera can do and the others can't?
